Dakar 2026 Stage 3 Results: Tosha Schareina & Mitch Guthrie Win - Sanders & Guthrie Lead
The third stage of Dakar 2026 saw Honda's Spanish rider Tosha Schareina take his first stage win since the 2025 edition of the world's toughest rally-raid. In the cars category, Ford's Mitch Guthrie took the win as competitors covered a 421km timed special stage.
The third stage of Dakar 2026 saw drivers and riders cover a 736km loop around the Saudi city of AlUla, which included a 421km long timed special stage. Competitors faced a mix of sandy and rocky terrain.

Dakar 2026 Stage 3 Results: Bikes - Schareina Wins As Sanders Continues To Lead
Stage 3 in the bikes category of Dakar 2026 was won by Honda's Tosha Schareina as Honda finally broke the Orange grip of the KTM factory team at the top of the Dakar field. Schareina led a Honda 1-2, finishing the special stage in four hours, 26 minutes and 39 seconds.
Schareina was joined on the podium by his teammate Ricky Brabec, with the American breaking his run of three third-place finishes in a row to end the day in second place. Brabec was two minutes and 17 seconds off the pace set by Schareina.

Defending Dakar Champion, KTM's Daniel "Chucky" Sanders, took the final podium spot, ending the timed special stage with a time of four hours, 30 minutes and seven seconds, three minutes and 28 seconds behind the stage winner Schareina.
KTM's Argentinian rider Luciano Benavides took the 4th spot at the end of Stage 3, ending the day four minutes and 30 seconds behind Schareina. American rider Skylar Howes, made it three Hondas in the top 5, ending the day four minutes and 32 seconds behind his Spanish teammate.
Chilean rider Ignacio "Nacho" Cornejo was the highest-ranked of the three Hero riders at the end of Stage 3 of Dakar 2026. Nacho ended the stage with a time of four hours, 36 minutes and 31 seconds, nine minutes and 52 seconds behind Schareina.

Ross Branch, the Kalahari Ferrari, finished the day in 7th place, with a time of four hours, 37 minutes and 17 seconds, 10 minutes and 38 seconds behind Schareina. The final Hero rider at Dakar 2026, Austria's Tobias Ebster, unfortunately, saw the end of his Dakar hopes as he crashed out early in the stage. The crash saw him injure his hand, which is expected to make him withdraw from this year's Dakar Rally.
In the overall standings, Defending Champion Daniel Sanders leads Dakar 2026 in the bikes category, with a time of 12 hours, 12 minutes and 31 seconds after Stage 3. The KTM rider has a lead of one minute and seven seconds on Honda's Ricky Brabec. Today's winner, Tosha Schareina, takes the final podium spot and is one minute and 13 seconds behind Sanders.

Fourth place in the overall standings is occupied by Prologue and Stage 1 winner, Edgar Canet. The 20-year-old Spanish rider sits eight minutes and 46 seconds behind his KTM teammate, after ending stage 3 in 8th place. The final place in the top 5 is taken by KTM's Luciano Benavides, who sits 11 minutes and six seconds off the pace set by Sanders.
Ross Branch is still the highest-placed Hero rider at Dakar 2026. The rider from Botswana sits 7th overall, 14 minutes and 15 seconds behind Sanders. Nacho Cornejo, the other remaining Hero rider, currently occupies the 8th spot, and is 20 minutes and one second behind Sanders
Dakar 2026 Stage 3 Results: Cars - Guthrie Wins & Takes Over At The Top

Stage 3 of Dakar 2025 saw Ford's American driver Mitch Guthrie (Kellon Walch - Navigator) take the win and the overall lead. Guthrie covered the 421 km-long timed special stage in four hours, four minutes and 32 seconds.
Second place up on Stage 3 of Dakar 2026 was taken by the Czech privateer (Orlen Jipocar Team) duo of Martin Prokop and Iktor Chytka (Navigator). The Czech driver ended the stage just two minutes and 27 seconds behind Guthrie in his privately run Ford Raptor T1+.

The final podium spot was claimed by Guy Botterill (Oriol Mena - Navigator) in the Toyota Gazoo Racing SA Hilux. Botterill finished the stage with a time of four hours, nine minutes and 55 seconds, five minutes and 23 seconds behind Guthrie.
Fourth place on Stage 3 was taken by Brazilian driver Lucas Moraes (Dennis Zenz - Navigator) in his Dacia Sandrider. Moraes ended the stage five minutes and 46 seconds behind Guthrie. Fifth place was taken by another Dacia Sandrider, driven by Cristina Gutiérrez (Pablo Moreno - Navigator), who ended the stage five minutes and 57 seconds.

In the overall standings, today's winner, Mitch Guthrie, now leads Dakar 2026 in the cars category with a time of 11 hours, 27 minutes and 20 seconds. Martin Prokop is now in second place in the overall rankings and is currently 26 seconds behind Guthrie. The final podium spot is occupied by Ford's Mattias Ekstrom, with the Swede one minute and eight seconds behind his American teammate.
Ford's Carlos Sainz, currently occupies 4th place in the overall rankings. The Matador is three minutes and 34 seconds behind Guthrie. Spanish driver Nani Roma makes it five Fords in the top 5 (4 factory and 1 privateer) after Stage 3. Roma is four minutes and two seconds off the pace set by Guthrie.
Tomorrow will see Dakar 2026 head to its first of 48-hour marathon dual stages, where drivers and riders will have to do their own repairs as their crews will not be available over the 48 hours that will cover stages 4 and 5. Riders and Drivers will cover two different routes but after 495kms on mostly open terrain as they zig-zag between hills.
At the end of the first half of the Marathon Stage (Stage 4 & 5), riders and drivers (cars, trucks and anything in between) will end the day in nearby but separate bivouacs. Competitors will be allowed to assist one another without time limits, while facilities remain minimal, limited to a bonfire, tents and ration packs.
