Dakar 2026 Stage 12 Results: Ricky Brabec & Nasser Al-Attiyah Win & Lead Overall Standings
The 12th stage of Dakar 2026 saw Honda's Ricky Brabec win in the bikes category while Dacia's Nasser Al-Attiyah took a record-equalling 50th stage win in the cars category. Brabec and Nasser Al-Attiyah currently lead the world's toughest rally-raid with one stage left to go.
Stage 12 of Dakar 2026 saw competitors head out from the city Al Henakiyah to this year's starting point. Today's 720km stage included a 311km long timed special and was a mix of fast tracks, rocky river beds and small dunes.

Honda's two-time Dakar Winner Ricky Brabec claimed his second win at this year's Dakar Rally (13th overall) as he mastered today's technical stage in a time of three hours, 19 minutes and one second.
Brabec, who was the first American to win the Dakar on two wheels in 2020 and then repeated the feat in 2024, looks set to claim his third overall win at the Dakar this year, took the win by a margin of three minutes and 43 seconds over KTM's Luciano Benavides, who finished today's stage in second place.

Spain's Tosha Schareina completed the podium after today's special stage. The Spanish Honda rider ended the stage 12 minutes and 58 seconds behind his American teammate.
Stage 10 winner, Adrien Van Beveren, took fourth place in today's timed special. The French rider ended the day 13 minutes and seven seconds behind his American teammate, Ricky Brabec.
Michael Docherty took fifth place in the standings in today's stage. The South African who rides for the BAS World KTM was the fastest Rally 2 rider today and ended the day 17 minutes and 11 seconds behind the Honda of Brabec.
Ross Branch was the fastest of the two Hero riders at the Dakar today. The rider from Botswana finished the stage in seventh place. Branch ended the stage, 22 minutes and 42 seconds off the pace set by Brabec today. Chilean rider Nacho Cornjeom finished today's stage in 14th place, 29 minutes and 28 seconds behind Brabec's Honda.
In the overall rankings after the penultimate stage of Dakar 2026, Honda's Ricky Brabec leads this year's edition of the world's toughest rally raid with a time of 48 hours, eight minutes and 12 seconds.

KTM's Luciano Benavides is now in second place with one round to go. He trails Brabec by three minutes and 20 seconds. With just tomorrow's mostly processional 105 kilometres long special stage to go, Luciano's chances of winning the Dakar this year are extremely slim, but he will be hoping to emulate his brother Kevin taking the win on the final stage in 2023, though he does have a way larger gap to overcome.
Honda's Spanish rider, Tosha Schareina, is in third place in the overall rankings. Schareina has no chance of winning Dakar 20256 as he trails his American teammate by 27 minutes and 51 seconds. Honda's Skyler Howes jumped up a place to fourth in the overall rankings. The American rider, who won yesterday's stage is 58 minutes and 21 seconds behind his fellow countryman and teammate.
Defending champion, Australia's Daniel Sanders, is now in fifth place. The Aussie is still riding to complete the Dakar despite his big crash on the dunes on Stage 10. The KTM rider is 58 minutes and 31 seconds behind Brabec.
Igancio "Nacho" Cornejo is still in seventh place after 12 rounds of Dakar 2026. The Chilean rider is now one hour, 40 minutes and five seconds behind Honda's Brabec on the time sheets. Ross Branch continues to occupy the 8th spot in the overall standings and now sits two hours, 48 minutes and 15 seconds behind Brabec.
Dakar 2026 Stage 12 Results: Cars - Al-Attiyah Claims Record-Equalling 50th Stage Win - Set For Sixth Dakar Win Tomorrow

5-time Dakar Champion, Nasser Al-Attiyah decided to go pedal to the metal on today's stage as he took his 50th overall stage win at the Dakar Rally to equal the record set by Ari Vatanen and Stéphane Peterhansel for stage wins in the cars category.
The Qatari driver blitzed today's special stage in just three hours, 21 minutes and 52 seconds, ending the day one minute and 14 seconds ahead of Ford's Mitch Guthrie. The final podium position on offer today was taken by Australia's Toby Price, who ended the day one minute and 25 seconds behind Al-Attiyah in his Toyota.

Yesterday's winner, Ford's Mattias Ekstrom, ended the day in fourth place today. The Swedish driver ended today's stage one minute and 49 seconds behind Al-Attiyah. Poland's Eryk Goczal, who won Stage 9, ended today's stage in fifth place, three minutes and 55 seconds.
In the overall rankings, Dacia's Nasser Al-Attiyah maintained his lead at the top of the overall standings after 12 rounds of the 2026 edition with a time of 48 hours, one minute and 51 seconds.
Al-Attiyah now leads Ford's Nani Roma (who ended today's stage in 8th place) by 16 minutes and two seconds. Ford's Mattias Ekstrom is now in 3rd place with the Swede 23 minutes and 21 seconds behind Al-Attiyah.
Hot on the heels of Ekstrom is Dacia's Sebastien Loeb. The French WRC legend is just 29 seconds behind Ekstrom and is set to slug it out with his Swedish rival for the final podium spot tomorrow. Loeb is 23 minutes and 50 seconds behind Al-Attiyah.
Fifth place is still the domain of "El Matador" Carlos Sainz. The four-time Dakar winner is 36 minutes and 33 seconds behind the Dacia of Nasser Al-Attiyah.

The 13th and final stage of Dakar 2026 is a 138km long loop that will start and end in Yanbu, which was also the starting point of this year's Rally. Tomorrow's stage includes a 105km long special stage that is expected to be mostly processional, but don't expect things to be quiet if the times between rivals become minuscule.
