BYD Seal Recalled For Possible Hi-Voltage Battery Issues
The BYD Seal electric sedan has been recalled in India due to a possible battery issue, claims a report by Autocar India. The recall has been issued on a voluntary basis by BYD India and involves replacing the high-voltage battery pack of affected vehicles.
The report claims that BYD has asked all Seal owners in the country to have their vehicles inspected at authorised service centres for a potential fault in the Seal's Blade battery. The company or service personnel who talked to Autocar have not yet disclosed the exact number of units affected.
The recall applies to all variants and battery sizes of the BYD Seal sedan, according to service centre technicians. Owners have been advised to book appointments at authorised service centres, preferably on weekdays (Monday to Friday), to get their vehicles tested.
At the service centre, authorised technicians will perform an OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) check on the Seal's battery pack. If this scan detects a fault in the Blade battery cells, the entire high-voltage battery pack will be replaced free of charge under the recall programme.
For customers who are unable to take their vehicles to a service centre themselves, BYD India has offered to arrange for authorised personnel to pick up the car, drive it to the service centre for inspection and, if required, battery replacement.
The recall is understood to be limited to the BYD Seal and does not cover other models in the brand's India line-up. The Seal is available in multiple trims in India, and the battery issue has been reported for both battery size options offered in the sedan.
The BYD Seal is positioned as an electric performance sedan in the Indian market, with features and specifications designed to deliver a high range and strong acceleration. Prices for the BYD Seal in India range between approximately ₹43.41 lakh and ₹56.23 lakh (on-road) across its variants.

Early booking appointments are recommended to ensure quick verification and, if necessary, to facilitate a timely battery replacement.
