Bugatti Destrier Is A One-Off Solitaire Creation Based On The Bolide

Bugatti has unveiled the Destrier, the third one-of-one creation from its exclusive Programme Solitaire, and unlike its two predecessors, it is built on the extreme track-only Bolide rather than the Chiron. The Bugatti Destrier will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 16.

Where the Chiron-based Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage drew on emotive personal stories, the Destrier is described by Bugatti as an instinctive, design-first sculptural exercise. The Bugatti Destrier shares the Bolide's carbon fibre monocoque and full W16 powertrain, but strips away the wings, vents and aero addenda that define its track-focused sibling, leaving only proportion and craftsmanship on display.

The Bugatti Destrier's design introduces a fresh take on Bugatti's signature C-line, which pauses just before the front wheel well to expose bare bodywork before resuming its path into the horseshoe grille.

That grille is wider than on the Bolide and tipped with milled aluminium, with a carbon fibre bar at its centre holding the enamel Bugatti badge. Oval-shaped lighting units sit on the front wings, flanking a wraparound windscreen carried over from the Bolide's extreme curvature.

At the rear, the Destrier features a static ducktail-style wing and an aggressive diffuser sit above four-element tail lights and exhaust outlets, with details echoing the Chiron Profilée's blended wing design. Wheels measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, a notable jump from the Bolide's 18-inch rims, and appear oversized against the one-off car's pared-back body.

A hand-laser-engraved dedication plate above the windscreen of the Bugatti Destrier depicts the Type 57G Tank and Type 57SC Atlantic, both built on the historic Type 57 chassis that also underpinned Le Mans-winning race cars in 1937 and 1939. Bugatti draws a direct line from that dual-purpose foundation to the Destrier and Bolide, which likewise share one chassis for two very different cars.

Power comes from Bugatti's quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine, now out of production except for special projects like this one, producing 1,600PS (1,577bhp), identical to the Bolide's output. The engine bay's brightwork carries a hammered surface finish, a detail inspired by hand-beaten medieval armour.

Inside, the stripped-out Bolide cockpit gives way to a cabin built around a single owner. Finished in "Ambre Voyageur" leather and nubuck alongside an advanced 3D-knitted textile threaded with copper yarns in a circular halo pattern. Many of the Bolide's motorsport-derived controls have been redesigned or removed, and a new yoke-style steering wheel sits beneath a compact, information-dense driver's display.

That exterior colour is a bespoke, multi-layered shade called "Sapphire Celeste," created exclusively for this car, with a diamond-inspired sparkle worked into the paint structure. Exposed carbon fibre on the front splitter and rear diffuser is tinted to match. The oil filler cap carries the Destrier emblem alongside a "1/1" designation.
