BMW India Records Best-Ever H1 Sales In 2026, EV Sales Jump 78%

BMW Group achieved its highest sales numbers in India in the first half of 2026. The company reported total sales of 9,075 units, which include BMW vehicles as well as the MINI sub-brand. The company sells both internal combustion and electric vehicles in India.

BMW Achieves Best Sales Numbers in H1 2026

One of the world's leading luxury car manufacturers, BMW, has recorded significant growth in India during the first half of this year. The company achieved its best-ever H1 sales in 2026 with 9,075 units, registering 17% growth. In the EV segment, it recorded an impressive 78% year-on-year growth. SUVs accounted for more than 60% of the company's overall sales, while the remaining share came from sedans.

BMW claims that every fourth car it sells in India is an EV, which is a positive sign for the brand's growth in the luxury EV segment. The company aims to become a global leader in the EV space, which is why it has a dedicated electric vehicle portfolio across its brands.

MINI, which is a sub-brand of the BMW Group, also recorded 70% year-on-year growth with total sales of 504 units. This also includes the MINI Countryman Electric which is an EV offering from the brand to the Indian consumers. This steady double-digit growth reflects customers' trust in BMW's brand, engineering, and after-sales service.

BMW competes with other luxury car manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, and JLR. Unlike many of its rivals, BMW also has a two-wheeler division, BMW Motorrad, which competes in the premium motorcycle segment.

The company is now planning several new launches before the end of this year, including new BMW cars, MINI models, and motorcycles from BMW Motorrad. This indicates that the company wants to carry forward the momentum it gained during the first half of 2026. BMW manufactures Vehicles in its Chennai plant and for two wheelers they use TVS manufacturing facility located in Hosur.
