Bentley Torcal Name Revealed For First-Ever EV
British luxury carmaker Bentley has officially named its first-ever electric model the Torcal. The upcoming Bentley Torcal will be revealed to the world on the 23rd of September and will become the marque's fourth model line, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga.
The name of the Bentley Torcal is drawn from El Torcal de Antequera, a limestone landscape of stacked rock formations in Andalusia, Spain. Torcal also stems from the Latin word "torquere", meaning to twist, the same root as the modern word torque.

Bentley's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser stated: "For 107 years Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars - effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history."
Bentley Torcal - Expected Design & Features
The first official image shows a rounded rear tailgate finished in frosted silver, with the Bentley badge set between two slim tail lights featuring cut-glass detailing. Bentley has also been testing prototypes worldwide for nearly two years ahead of the reveal.
Design cues seen on those prototypes of the Torcal take inspiration from the Continental R, T and Brooklands models built between the late 1980s and early 2000s. The Torcal is expected to feature a sharper look and be smaller in size compared to Bentley's flagship SUV, the Bentayga.
Like its siblings, expect the Bentley Torcal to ride on large wheels (probably 22-inches and over) when it exits the British marque's Crewe production facility, Owners of the Torcal are also expected to have access to Bentley's Mulliner personalisation programme for bespoke finishes.
The cabin of the Bentley Torcal is expected to borrow the multi-display setup seen on the Porsche Cayenne Electric, though it is expected to run a unique interface developed specifically for Bentley.
Expect the physical switchgear for the Tocal to be mounted on a broad centre console set below the digital displays along with the use of high-grade leather and woodgrain finishes consistent with Bentley's existing model range.
The Bentley Torcal will share its underpinnings with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, built on Volkswagen Group's PPE platform with an 800V electrical architecture and dual motors. Battery capacity is expected to be around 113kWh, though Bentley has not confirmed a final figure.
The Bentley Torcal is expected to offer a range of around 600km (WLTP) on a single charge between 350 and 370 miles. Bentley has not confirmed whether the model will feature the Cayenne Electric's dual motor setup which pushes out 1,156hp.
