Audi Nuvolari Unveiled - 987 HP Hybrid V8 Power, Limited To 499 Units

Audi has revealed the all-new Nuvolari, a limited-production hybrid supercar that returns the brand to the top tier of the performance car segment nearly three years after the R8 ended production.

Named after legendary Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari, the new hybrid supercar serves as Audi's flagship halo car and showcases technology developed through the company's growing involvement in Formula 1.

Production of the Audi Nuvolari will be capped at 499 units worldwide. The company has confirmed that deliveries will commence in early 2027, with the model serving as a technological flagship for the brand and a showcase for future high-performance Audi models.

Audi Nuvolari - 987hp Hybrid Powertrain

At the heart of the Audi Nuvolari is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with three axial-flux electric motors and a 7.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined output stands at 987hp, making it the most powerful production Audi ever built. The V8, which is borrowed from the Lamborghini Temerario, produces 800hp and revs to 10,000 rpm, while the electric motors contribute additional performance and torque-vectoring capabilities.

Audi claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 2.6 seconds for its new hybrid Nuvolari supercar. The Audi Nuvolari can also accelerate from 0-200 km/h in just 6.8 seconds and will top out when the speedo needle goes past 350km/h.

Audi Nuvolari - Formula 1-Inspired Engineering

The Nuvolari incorporates several technologies influenced by Audi's Formula 1 programme. These include advanced energy management systems, active aerodynamics, predictive all-wheel-drive control and hybrid boost strategies designed to maximise performance while maintaining drivability.

Active aerodynamic elements generate substantial downforce, while a sophisticated torque-vectoring system continuously adjusts power delivery between the wheels. Audi has also equipped the Nuvolari with a high-performance braking system that integrates regenerative and hydraulic braking technologies.

Audi Nuvolari - Carbon Construction & New Design Language

Built around a new Audi Space Frame architecture, the Nuvolari combines lightweight construction with increased torsional rigidity. Extensive use of carbon fibre across the body structure helps keep weight under control despite the complex hybrid powertrain. Forged centre-lock wheels and a carbon-intensive exterior further reinforce its performance credentials.

The Nuvolari is also the first production model to fully adopt Audi's latest design philosophy under design chief Massimo Frascella. The styling moves away from conventional Audi model design conventions, giving the Nuvolari a distinct identity atop the brand's future portfolio.

Inside, the Nuvolari places emphasis on the driving experience. Carbon-fibre seats, aluminium trim and a minimalist cockpit layout dominate the cabin. Audi has deliberately avoided unnecessary luxury features, focusing instead on performance-oriented ergonomics and advanced driver interfaces.

DriveSpark Thinks!

The Nuvolari is positioned above anything Audi has offered before. While it shares its underlying architecture with the Lamborghini Temerario, Audi has developed the car with its own design philosophy, chassis tuning and hybrid technology package. Also unlike the Temerario, the new Audi Nuvolari is a limited run supercar, which is surely going to increase its value with fans of the five rings marque.
