5 Exclusive Features The Skoda Kodiaq RS Offers Over The VW Tayron R-Line

Skoda Auto is set to launch the Skoda Kodiaq RS this June 22, making it the most powerful SUV in the brand's lineup. With several performance-focused features, it even goes beyond its sibling, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, despite both sharing similar underpinnings and technology.

5 Exclusive Features Of The Skoda Kodiaq RS

The launch of the Skoda Kodiaq RS is now on the cards, and the brand is yet to reveal its pricing and allotted units for India. Before that, here are the 5 exclsuive features that make the Kodiaq RS stand out over the Tayron R-Line.

1. More Power And Performance

Skoda Kodiaq RS

Compared to the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, the Kodiaq RS delivers significantly more power. It uses the same 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, but with a performance tune inspired by the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

This engine produces 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. In comparison, the Tayron R-Line produces 201 hp and 320 Nm from the same engine. This makes the Kodiaq RS more appealing to driving enthusiasts looking for stronger acceleration and performance.

2. Advanced Dynamic Chassis Control

Skoda Kodiaq RS

The Škoda Kodiaq RS comes with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC+) as standard, featuring dual-valve dampers.

This allows drivers to adjust the suspension through up to 15 different settings depending on driving conditions such as highways, city roads, off-road trails, or spirited driving. The Tayron R-Line does not offer DCC+ and instead uses a fixed suspension setup.

3. More Aggressive Styling And Sportier Cabin

The RS version carries a much more aggressive design compared to the Tayron R-Line. It gets a blacked-out grille, larger alloy wheels, red brake calipers, RS badging, and sportier bumpers.

Inside, it features RS-specific bucket seats with integrated headrests and exclusive RS badging. In comparison, the Tayron R-Line focuses more on comfort and family-oriented practicality.

4. Better Convenience Through Physical Controls

Škoda offers physical rotary controls with digital displays placed below the infotainment system, improving usability.

These physical controls make it easier and safer for drivers to adjust climate settings and other functions without taking their eyes off the road. The Tayron R-Line integrates most of these functions into its larger 15-inch touchscreen, which may not be as practical while driving.

5. Better Audio Experience

Skoda Kodiaq RS

The Kodiaq RS gets a premium 13-speaker Canton sound system with a dedicated subwoofer, compared to the Tayron R-Line's 11-speaker Harman Kardon setup.

For buyers who prioritise in-cabin audio quality, this could be a major advantage. Skoda also adds a Dynamic Sound Boost system that enhances exhaust sound inside the cabin, creating a more engaging sporty feel during hard acceleration.

Price and Expectations

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is currently priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the Škoda Kodiaq RS is positioned as a higher-performance and more feature-rich SUV, it is expected to be priced at around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). The added performance, engineering upgrades, and cabin enhancements could justify the higher premium.
