2027 Porsche Taycan Revealed - Gets Simulated Gearshifts, Manthey Kit

Porsche has rolled out a comprehensively updated 2027 Taycan, headlined by a simulated gearshift system that brings combustion-like driving engagement to the electric sedan. The feature, called E-Shift, marks the first time the German marque has offered such tech across its line-up.

Alongside the virtual gearshifts, the updated Taycan gains a new-generation infotainment system, optional low-resistance summer tyres, and the Manthey performance kit, which is now available on an electric Porsche for the first time. The Turbo GT variant gets E-Shift as standard equipment.

2027 Porsche Taycan - E-Shift Brings Virtual Gears & Engine Sounds

E-Shift works through a GT sports steering wheel fitted with column-mounted paddleshifters. Drivers can toggle between eight simulated gears using a dedicated steering wheel button, with shift jerks and gear-specific drag torque replicating the engine-braking sensation of a petrol-powered car.

A virtual rev limiter and gearshift indicator appear in the digital instrument cluster to support the system. Porsche has also introduced Porsche Electric Sport Sound, a synthetic engine note that adjusts according to load and simulated engine speed.

E-Shift is offered as an optional extra across all Taycan variants except the Turbo GT, where it comes bundled in as standard. Transmission mapping and sound profiles differ by model, giving each variant a distinct acoustic and driving character.

The Manthey kit is restricted to the Turbo GT and adds extra power, revised aerodynamics, greater downforce, larger brakes, and forged rims. Buyers can specify it from the factory or retrofit it later. A Taycan Turbo GT fitted with this kit set a new EV lap record at the Nurburgring in May 2026.

2027 Porsche Taycan - New PCM System & Faster Wireless Charging

Cabin layout stays largely the same, but the Taycan now runs a new-generation Porsche Communication Management system that Porsche says delivers up to five times the processing power of the outgoing unit. A fresh Porsche Digital Interaction operating system brings updated graphics, displays, and widgets for quicker access to functions.

Existing Taycan owners get an over-the-air update adding a Themes app, an App Centre, and improved voice recognition. The wireless smartphone charger has also been upgraded to a faster 25W output.

2027 Porsche Taycan - Summer Tyres Add Up To 20km Of Range

Porsche has introduced optional low-resistance summer tyres for the entry-level Taycan RWD, claiming a range boost of up to 20km. The 20-inch tyres are tuned for both highway and city use and will be sold as an extra in European and EU member markets.

The 2027 Taycan continues with 89kWh and 105kWh battery options, with outputs spanning 408hp to 1,034hp. WLTP-rated range tops out at 668km depending on variant. Only the base trim sticks to a RWD layout, while every variant above it gets AWD as standard.
