2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Unveiled: Revised Design, New 8-Speed AT, Panoramic Sunroof
German carmaker Volkswagen has unveiled the facelifted Taigun compact SUV. The mid-cycle update to the Volkswagen Taigun Facelift introduces a new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0 TSI engine, revised exterior styling, and added cabin features.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Powertrain Upgrades
The VW Taigun facelift's 1.0 TSI engine now pairs with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. The 6-speed manual option continues unchanged. Volkswagen claims a 5.8 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency for the 1.0 TSI with this update.

The 1.5 TSI variants now receive rear disc brakes - a change Volkswagen has addressed for the first time on the Taigun. The 1.5 TSI continues with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 115hp and 178Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre TSI engine produces 150hp and 250Nm. No changes to engine outputs have been made over the outgoing model.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Exterior and Styling Changes

The front fascia draws inspiration from the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. It features an illuminated VW badge, new LED headlamps connected by a full-width light bar, a slimmer grille, and a redesigned bumper with horizontal slats and chrome detailing. GT variants add blacked-out grille accents, blacked-out alloy wheels, blacked-out exterior trims, and GT badging.
The side profile of the Taigun facelift remains unchanged. The only update in the profile is a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Taigun facelift features an illuminated VW logo, updated LED tail-lamps with sequential turn indicators, and a revised bumper.

The cabin of the 2026 VW Taigun gains a new 10.25-inch digital driver's display and an updated 10.1-inch infotainment system. The infotainment system runs updated software with AI-based integration, real-time information access, and improved voice controls for hands-free operation. Volkswagen has also added a new panoramic sunroof to the Taigun facelift.
Additional features on the Tiagun include powered ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and an updated air-conditioning system with a revised compressor. The dashboard layout is carried over, with new trim finishes and a two-tone interior in six upholstery options, depending on variant.

Safety equipment on the 20256 Taigun include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, traction control, electronic differential lock, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and an auto-dimming IRVM. The Taigun facelift retains the 5-star safety rating of the outgoing model.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Expected Price and Rivals
The 2026 VW Taigun facelift is expected to carry an ex-showroom price of ₹11.50 lakh to ₹18.00 lakh. Volkswagen is offering a standard 4-year/1,00,000km warranty, 4 years of roadside assistance, and three free labour services with the facelift.
The Taigun competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, and the Renault Duster.
