2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Launched At ₹11 Lakh - New 8-Speed Gearbox, Revised Styling & More
Volkswagen has officially launched the Taigun facelift in India at a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated compact SUV brings a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0 TSI engine, rear disc brakes on higher variants, fresh exterior styling and a host of new interior features.
Alongside the launch, Volkswagen has also announced an assured buyback scheme promising a residual value of 75 per cent of the ex-showroom price, valid for up to three years and 30,000 km, applicable to bookings placed on or before May 31, 2026.

The Taigun facelift is priced Rs 31,000 higher than the mechanically identical Skoda Kushaq facelift in terms of starting price, and marginally above the recently launched Renault Duster, which is priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh. Other rivals include the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Victoris and Toyota Hyryder.

The Taigun facelift carries forward the same 115 hp 1.0-litre and 150 hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines from the outgoing model, along with their respective 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox options. The key mechanical addition is the new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0 TSI - the same unit that debuted in the Kushaq facelift. Rear disc brakes on higher variants are another important upgrade.
Claimed fuel efficiency has improved across the Volkswagen Taigun range. The Taigun 1.0 TSI MT returns 19.98 kpl, the 1.0 TSI AT returns 19.54 kpl, and the 1.5 TSI DCT returns 18.85 kpl. The Taigun facelift also gains a variable geometry compressor to improve air conditioning performance.

On the outside, the Taigun facelift gets reshaped headlights, updated front and rear bumpers, illuminated Volkswagen emblems at both ends, a revised rear LED light bar with sequential indicators, new alloy wheel designs and two new colour options - Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.
Inside, the cabin layout is largely unchanged but gains a new 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof and an updated 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. These join existing features such as powered and ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad and a 6-speaker sound system. New colour scheme options are also available depending on the variant chosen.
