2026 Toyota Hilux Pickup Teased Before India Launch This Month
Toyota India has teased the upcoming new-generation Hilux pickup truck, which is set to launch this month. The ninth-generation Hilux lifestyle pickup will make its India debut on July 28, 2026 with significant updates.
The pickup truck segment is one of the most popular vehicle categories globally, but it is still not widely accepted in India. In many parts of the world, pickup trucks are preferred for their versatility, practicality, and utility.

However, in India, buyers continue to favour regular SUVs and crossovers over pickup trucks. In this segment, the Toyota Hilux plays an important role by offering a balance of power, performance, utility, and reliability at a competitive price.
Only the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross comes close to the Hilux as a lifestyle pickup truck. The Hilux shares many of its off-road capabilities and is built on the same ladder-frame platform as the Toyota Fortuner. Now, Toyota is set to launch the ninth-generation Hilux lifestyle pickup truck in India. The company has already released a teaser, and we have spotted several new design elements.

Looking at the teaser, the Hilux is seen wading through deep water with ease, while also revealing glimpses of its bonnet, front grille, LED DRLs, and the Toyota logo positioned above the grille. The vehicle shown in the teaser is finished in orange, which could become its signature launch colour.
The new Hilux is already on sale in markets such as Thailand and Australia. It features an updated design language with revisions to the front and rear, giving it a more modern appearance while retaining its rugged off-road character through thick body cladding and black bumpers.
The interior is also expected to be updated with a new dashboard design, a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, premium speakers, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and several other premium features.

On the safety front, it is expected to offer Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a blind-spot monitor, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, and seven airbags, making the pickup truck even safer. It has already earned a five-star safety rating in the Australian NCAP crash testing.
The new Hilux is expected to continue with the same 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 4WD drivetrain. There is also an all-electric version available globally, but it is unlikely to be introduced in India. The new-generation Toyota Hilux is expected to be priced from around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and will continue to rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
