2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift Revealed - More Screens, A Supercomputer Inside & More
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2026 S-Class facelift, introducing a series of visual, technological and mechanical updates to its flagship luxury sedan. The facelift updates the current W223 generation and will be rolled out globally during 2026.
The refreshed 2026 Mercedes S-Class facelift retains its overall proportions and platform architecture but receives revised exterior detailing, expanded digital functionality and updated powertrain technology.

2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift - Exterior Design
At the front, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift features a revised grille with a star-pattern insert. On select variants, the grille surround is illuminated, extending Mercedes-Benz's illuminated signature beyond electric models.
The headlamps receive new three-point star LED daytime running light signatures. This lighting motif is now integrated into both the front and rear of the vehicle, forming a visual identity unique to the updated S-Class.

At the rear, the tail-lamps adopt triple-star LED graphics, replacing the earlier horizontal light elements. Revised bumper detailing and new alloy wheel designs complete the exterior changes, while body dimensions remain unchanged.
2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift - Interior And Digital Systems
Inside, the facelifted S-Class introduces the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This acts as the central computing architecture for the vehicle. It supports faster processing speeds, higher computing capacity and enables over-the-air software updates for infotainment, connectivity and vehicle functions.

The infotainment layout continues with a large central OLED touchscreen, paired with a fully digital instrument cluster. Higher variants feature a passenger-side display, forming a multi-screen dashboard configuration.
Rear-seat technology remains a core focus. The S-Class continues to offer electrically adjustable rear seats, integrated displays, wireless headphones and tablet-style controls for climate, seating and entertainment functions.

2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift - Driver Assistance And Automation
Mercedes-Benz has expanded assisted driving functionality on the facelifted S-Class. The car supports Level 3 automated driving in approved markets, allowing hands-off operation under specific traffic and speed conditions.
The updated system operates at speeds of up to 95 kmph, exceeding the previous threshold. The system includes redundancy in steering, braking and electrical architecture to meet regulatory requirements.

Additional assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-centring assist, active steering intervention and predictive speed adjustment based on route and traffic data.
2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift - Powertrains And Mechanical Hardware
Mercedes has revised the S-Class engine range with improvements to every powertrain. The entire powertrain lineup for the refreshed S-Class is now Euro 7 compliant.
A new flat-plane-crank V8 engine (M177 Evo) headlines the range for the S 580 4MATIC, producing approximately 530 bhp and 750 Nm of torque with enhanced turbocharger and fuel injection systems for improved response and refinement.

The S 450 4MATIC and S 500 4MATIC use updated six-cylinder petrol engines with an 'overtorque' function delivering momentary torque peaks to assist acceleration and overtaking. A mild-hybrid system is standard, aiding start-stop functionality and energy recuperation.
Diesel variants such as the S 350 d 4MATIC and S 450 d 4MATIC feature updated six-cylinder units meeting future emissions norms and incorporating electrically heated catalytic converters for faster emissions control. Plug-in hybrids include the S 450 e and S 580 e, the latter producing around 577 bhp and offering an upgraded electric range via a 22 kWh battery.
The line-up also includes the S 680 Guard 4MATIC, featuring a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 with specialist ballistic protection, aluminium outer skin and armoured glass for high-security applications.
2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift - Chassis, Steering And Ride Systems
The facelifted S-Class continues with AIRMATIC air suspension as standard. Higher trims retain access to E-Active Body Control, which uses active suspension elements to manage body movement and ride comfort.
Rear-axle steering is standard (around 4.5 degrees) with an upgrade to 10 degrees available, which significantly reduces the turning circle for improved manoeuvrability. The system adjusts the rear wheel angle dynamically based on speed and steering input.
