German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the updated 2026 S-Class facelift at an introductory price of Rs 2.20 crore (ex-showroom). The refreshed flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class luxury sedan brings subtle styling revisions, new technology features, enhanced rear-seat comfort and a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the Indian market.
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift is offered in S 450e guise and continues to be sold exclusively in long-wheelbase form. The launch marks the arrival of the first plug-in hybrid S-Class in India, combining luxury-focused updates with improved efficiency and electric-only driving capability.

2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift Launched - Design & Feature Updates
The facelifted S-Class receives a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes and revised detailing. Mercedes-Benz has also introduced fresh alloy wheel designs and expanded paint options for customers seeking greater personalisation. The MANUFAKTUR programme further broadens the range of bespoke exterior finishes and trim combinations available with the luxury sedan.
Inside, the 2026 S-Class gains Mercedes-Benz's latest MBUX Superscreen setup. The system combines a 14.4-inch OLED central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch passenger display powered by the brand's latest MB.OS software.

The updated infotainment system offers improved AI functionality and a more capable MBUX virtual assistant. Mercedes-Benz has also enhanced ambient lighting, extending illumination across the dashboard, centre console, doors, footwells and rear cabin areas. Additional updates include revised trim finishes and improved cabin insulation aimed at delivering a quieter passenger experience.
The long-wheelbase S-Class continues to prioritise chauffeur-driven buyers. The optional four-seat configuration features Executive Rear Seats with a recline angle of up to 43.5 degrees. Heating, ventilation and massage functions are available for all four seats, while the spacious rear cabin remains one of the S-Class' strongest selling points.

Powering the new S 450e is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack. The plug-in hybrid system produces a combined 435hp and 680Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz claims the luxury sedan can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. The 22kWh battery enables an electric-only driving range of up to 100km, allowing many daily commutes to be completed without using the petrol engine.
