2026 BMW 7 Series And i7 Launched At Rs. 1.95 Crore
German luxury carmaker BMW has launched the facelifted 7 Series and i7 range at a starting price of Rs. 1.95 crore. The launch marks a mid-life update for the G70-generation 7 Series models, and they arrive four years after they first went on sale in India.
The BMW 7 Series and i7 eDrive50 are priced at Rs. 1.95 crore onward, ex-showroom, while the range-topping i7 M70 xDrive is priced at Rs. 2.65 crore. The BMW 7 Series and i7 compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-Benz EQS in the sedan space.

The new BMW 7 Series range gets a new flagship in the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, positioned as the most powerful 7 Series ever offered, along with updated technology such as BMW Panoramic iDrive, BMW Operating System X and the brand's first passenger screen. Both the petrol 740 and the i7 eDrive50 continue to be locally assembled in India, while the new i7 M70 xDrive is offered as a completely built-up unit.
2026 BMW 7 Series & i7 - Powertrain Options
The BMW 7 Series range spans three powertrains: the petrol-only BMW 740, the single-motor BMW i7 eDrive50 and the dual-motor BMW i7 M70 xDrive. The 740 uses a three-litre inline six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox driving the rear wheels, while both i7 variants run on a 112.5 kWh battery.

| Variant | Power | Torque | 0-100 km/h | Top Speed | Range (WLTP) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BMW 740 | 400 hp | 540 Nm | 5.4 seconds | 250 km/h | Not applicable |
| BMW i7 eDrive50 | 455 hp | 660 Nm | 5.5 seconds | 210 km/h | 728 km |
| BMW i7 M70 xDrive | 680 hp | 1,015 Nm (1,100 Nm with Launch Control/Sport Boost) | 3.8 seconds | 250 km/h | 686 km |
The i7 eDrive50's WLTP range sees an increase of 125 km over the outgoing model and is claimed as best-in-class. BMW says the i7 and i7 M70 support fast charging on a 250 kW DC charger, taking the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes and adding 235 km of range in just 10 minutes. A 22 kW AC charger takes the battery from 0 to 100 percent in about six hours, and both electric variants come with a complimentary BMW Wallbox charger that supports home installation up to 22 kW.
2026 BMW 7 Series & i7: Exterior Design
The new 2026 BMW 7 Series exterior is built around the glowing Kidney Grille and crystal headlights, which use diamond-cut glass elements produced by Swarovski for a sparkling effect both day and night. Adaptive LED headlights with cornering light, matrix high beam and a range of up to 600 metres, along with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high-beam assist, are standard. A newly designed, larger BMW badge with a matt finish sits between two character lines that run over the bonnet.
A character line extends from the front apron over the door sills into the rear, giving the sedan a boat-tail-like profile from the rear three-quarter view, aided by a new aluminium satinated exterior line. Door handles are flush-integrated into classical recesses, and the redesigned rear lights extend well into the rear wings for a broader stance.
The M Sport package, which adds the M aerodynamics package, high-gloss black front and rear bumper elements, M side skirts, black Shadowline window surrounds and mirror bases, 20-inch alloy wheels and M Sport brakes with Dark Blue metallic callipers, is available across the range.
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive gets larger air curtains and a larger front air intake than the standard 7 Series, along with a spoiler lip that lowers the car's centre of gravity. It carries an exclusive M logo graphic on the kidney grille, additional M badges on the Hofmeister kink and rear light edges, and a darker kidney Iconic Glow illumination.
Its BMW Individual crystal headlights use smoke-black crystals, and its exterior mirrors are finished in black high-gloss with the "Seehaus" signature. At the rear, it gets a diffuser that spans almost the full width of the bumper, vertical reflectors at the bumper edges and a discreet M rear spoiler in Black Sapphire, riding on new 21-inch M aerodynamic wheels finished in bi-colour Jet Black.
2026 BMW 7 Series & i7: Interior & Technology
Inside, the new BMW 7 Series is built around the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, powered by BMW Operating System X. It centres on the BMW Panoramic Vision, a projection surface that runs the full width of the windscreen from A-pillar to A-pillar, and includes a new M leather steering wheel. Up to six frequently used function widgets can be arranged on the Panoramic Vision display by drag and drop.
The free-floating Free-Cut Design Central Display measures 17.9 inches with a 3,340 x 1,440 pixel resolution and matrix backlight technology. The 7 Series is also the first BMW to get the BMW Passenger Screen, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with full-HD resolution of 3,162 x 1,080 pixels that lets front passengers use content without needing a BMW ID, and which dims automatically when the interior camera detects the driver's gaze has shifted to it. These displays work alongside the BMW 3D Head-Up Display and the multifunction steering wheel as part of one integrated system.
The rear compartment gets Executive Lounge seating with coordinated backrest and seat-angle adjustment, allowing a reclining torso angle of up to 43 degrees. A Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof with more than 40 LED lights, illuminating a quilted pattern across the interior, is available. BMW Individual Merino Leather and BMW Individual CraftedClarity glass elements, used on the start/stop button, gear selector and volume control, are offered, along with an illuminated cupholder and a 15-watt wireless charging tray trimmed in Alcantara with a magnetic phone holder. The BMW i7 M70 xDrive gets Carbon Fibre M interior trim with silver threads and a Piano Black centre console.
For rear seat entertainment, a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen extends automatically from the roof, paired with a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System featuring Dolby Atmos. The updated automatic doors use a soft-close mechanism and switch from PDC to radar-based technology, which BMW says makes the opening and closing action smoother and quicker than before.
2026 BMW 7 Series & i7: Safety And Driver Assistance
Standard driver assistance equipment on the new BMW 7 Series includes Cruise Control, Attentiveness Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional with remote parking via smartphone, and Reversing Assistant Professional. On the BMW i7, Driving Assistant Plus adds active cruise control with Stop&Go function, along with Steering and Lane Control Assistant and blind spot monitoring.
