Hyundai Santa Fe Named Supreme Winner At Women's Worldwide Car Of The Year Awards In Seoul

The Hyundai Santa Fe was awarded the Supreme Winner title at the WWCOTY awards in Seoul. This recognition underscores the importance of women's perspectives in the automotive sector.

An esteemed delegation from the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) recently visited South Korea. Their mission was to present the Supreme Winner award to the Hyundai Santa Fe and explore Hyundai's vast Ulsan plant, which produces 5,600 vehicles daily. This visit highlighted the global recognition of Hyundai's achievements in the automotive industry.

The WWCOTY award is unique as it is judged exclusively by female motoring journalists. Established by Sandy Myhre from New Zealand in 2009, it aims to highlight outstanding cars while amplifying women's voices in the automotive sector. The criteria for selection include safety, quality, price, design, and environmental impact.

Hyundai Santa Fe Wins WWCOTY Award

The Hyundai Santa Fe earned its title as the Supreme Winner after being named Best Large SUV. The jurors presented this accolade to Hae In Kim, Hyundai Motor Company's executive vice president and chief human resources officer. This recognition underscores Hyundai's commitment to excellence in vehicle design and performance.

Three jurors traveled from Italy, the UAE, and the USA to Seoul for this occasion. Monica Secondino from Italy, Shereen Shabnam from Dubai, and Tanya Gazdik from Detroit represented 85 women journalists from 54 countries who voted for this year's winners. Their presence underscored the international significance of this award.

The jurors' itinerary included a visit to Hyundai Motorstudio Hanam at Starfield Hanam mall. Here they interviewed Taewook Choi, a senior researcher with Hyundai's exterior design team. This interaction provided insights into Hyundai's innovative design processes and future aspirations.

A significant part of their trip was touring Hyundai's Ulsan plant, renowned as the world's largest automobile manufacturing facility. Spanning 4.8 million square meters (1,200 acres), it houses five factories and an engine and transmission plant. The site also features its own port for vehicle shipping.

Hyundai Heritage Hall

The jurors explored the Hyundai Heritage Hall within Ulsan Plant's Culture Center. This exhibition space chronicles Hyundai's evolution from its inception at Ulsan to becoming a leading global automotive company. It offers a comprehensive look at the brand's history and milestones.

Beyond recognising top cars annually, WWCOTY aims to enhance women's visibility in automotive discussions worldwide. By doing so, it seeks to empower women through mobility opportunities that open doors both personally and professionally across continents.
