Introducing The All-New Nissan MICRA EV: Stylish Design And Impressive Range For Urban Drivers
The sixth-generation Nissan MICRA, set to launch in late 2025, will be a fully electric vehicle. Designed for European customers, it combines bold design with agile performance and advanced technology. The new MICRA offers two battery options, providing up to 253 miles of range and quick charging capabilities. This model marks a significant step in Nissan's electrification strategy in Europe.
Inside the MICRA, elegance meets functionality. The interior maintains a simple yet sophisticated design, featuring a three-spoke steering wheel and dual 10.1-inch screens for navigation and infotainment. The cabin offers adjustable ambient lighting with 48 colour options, allowing drivers to personalise their environment. Various upholstery trims cater to different tastes, enhancing the premium feel of the interior.
Nissan's Design Europe team in London crafted the new MICRA's exterior with an SUV-like appearance. It features pronounced wheel arches and a distinctive lower lip for a robust stance. The car comes with 18-inch wheels available in three designs: "active," "Iconic," and "Sport." Its unique headlamps perform a choreographed "welcome wink" when unlocking the car.
The MICRA is compact yet spacious, measuring under four metres long and less than 1.8 metres wide. Its wheelbase of 2.54 metres enhances interior space while ensuring agility on urban roads. Despite its size, it offers ample storage capacity with 326 litres of trunk space, expandable to 1106 litres with foldable rear seats.
The new MICRA integrates seamless technology for an enhanced driving experience. It features NissanConnect with Google built-in services, allowing drivers to make calls, stream music, and control smart home devices via voice commands. Google Maps aids in route planning by suggesting charging stations based on range and energy consumption.
Safety remains paramount in the new MICRA with features like ProPilot assist for lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control. Additional safety systems include Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Warning Intervention. These technologies ensure peace of mind for drivers navigating busy streets or highways.
Efficient Electric Powertrain
The MICRA's electric powertrain offers two battery sizes: 40kWh and 52kWh, delivering up to 253 miles of range. Quick charging from 15% to 80% takes just 30 minutes using a DC charger. The car includes V2L technology, enabling owners to power external devices using the vehicle's battery capacity.
Driving dynamics are enhanced by its lightweight construction at just 1400kg (1524kg for larger battery). The low-positioned battery pack improves handling while independent front suspension ensures a smooth ride. Drivers can choose from multiple driving modes like "comfort," "sport," or "eco" to suit their preferences.
Market Launch and Future Plans
European sales of the new MICRA will commence in late 2025 as part of Nissan's broader electrification initiative. This model is one of four new electric vehicles Nissan plans to introduce by 2027 in Europe alongside the LEAF, JUKE, and an A-Segment model.
