Facelifted Volvo XC90 Launch Details Revealed - The Hybrid Family Wagon

Swedish carmaker Volvo is set to launch the facelifted XC90 in India next month, around 6 months after the marque revealed its flagship SUV to the world in September. The facelifted Volvo XC90 is expected to be launched in mild hybrid guise on the 4th of March.

The powertrain configuration for the updated XC90 remains largely unchanged from before, featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine equipped with 48V mild-hybrid technology. This mild-hybrid setup delivers 251bhp and 360Nm of peak torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The XC90 mild-hybrid sprints from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 180km/h.

The XC90 facelift incorporates Volvo's Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology into its suspension system, enhancing ride comfort by allowing dampers to adjust dynamically to changing road conditions.

The plug-in-hybrid version of the Volvo XC90 utilizes the same engine as the mild hybrid but augments it with an 18.8 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The plug-in hybrid XC90 offers a a combined range of approximately 800 km, including an electric-only range of 70 km.

The exterior of the XC90 facelift has undergone a substantial transformation, aligning more closely with the visual aesthetics of the all-electric EX90. Changes include an active grille alongside a sleeker front bumper. Minimalistic chrome detailing and the iconic Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights further enhance the facelifted XC90's appearance. While the profile has largely remained the same, the facelifted XC90 sports new alloy wheel designs and a split design for the Volvo's vertical rear light signature.

Inside, the XC90 facelift boasts an updated interior layout, highlighted by a larger touchscreen infotainment system that projects from the dashboard, as oppfcosed to the previous integrated design. Volvo has made ergonomic improvements within the cabin, such as adding extra storage space in the centre console, an additional cupholder, and relocating the wireless phone charger behind the central tunnel for better space utilization. For audiophiles, the XC90 comes equipped with the Bowers & amp; Wilkins High Fidelity audio system, elevating the in-car entertainment experience.
