2025 Volvo XC90 Facelift India Launch Today: Expectations & Other Details
The Volvo XC90 facelift is set to launch in India today, featuring a refreshed design and updated features. The XC90's second major update in ten years aims to maintain its competitiveness against premium SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Lexus UX 350h.
The revamped XC90 will be available in six and seven-seater configurations with three engine choices: two mild hybrids and one plug-in hybrid. In India, only two of these engine options will be offered. The plug-in hybrid model sits at the top of the range, while the base model is powered by the B5 unit.

2025 Volvo XC90: Design Enhancements
The latest updates to the XC90 include a redesigned front grille with diagonal slats. The LED daytime running lights retain their Thor hammer appearance with slight modifications. Additionally, the front bumper now features more air vents. New alloy wheel options and a refreshed look for the LED taillights complete the exterior upgrades.
Inside, an 11.2-inch infotainment display replaces the previous nine-inch unit. Positioned vertically between AC vents and above the HVAC panel, it offers improved functionality. The plug-in hybrid version includes a shortcut for electric-only driving mode. Despite these changes, the overall cabin layout remains unchanged.

Engine Specifications and Performance
The facelifted XC90 retains its previous engine options but no longer offers a diesel variant. All models come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The B5 powertrain features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 247 bhp, while the B6 variant adds a supercharger to increase output to 297 bhp.
The powerful plug-in hybrid option boasts a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine delivering 455 bhp combined output. The petrol engine on the front axle generates 310 bhp alone, paired with a 145 bhp rear electric motor and a 14.7 kWh battery pack, offering an electric range of up to 71 km.

Pricing Details
Volvo has announced that the entry-level mild-hybrid XC90 will start at $58,450 (approximately ₹49.25 lakh), while the plug-in hybrid model will cost $73,000 (around ₹61.51 lakh). In India, pricing details are yet to be confirmed but are estimated between ₹1.01 crore and ₹1.05 crore (ex-showroom).
Volvo has enhanced ride quality by incorporating Frequency Selective Damping technology along with improved sound insulation and additional storage options in this facelifted model.
This marks Volvo XC90's second significant facelift since its debut in 2014 as it continues to evolve while maintaining its appeal among premium SUV enthusiasts worldwide.
