Volvo ES90: A Fully Electric Vehicle Redefining Sedans, Fastbacks, And SUVs
The Volvo ES90 is a new electric vehicle that merges the elegance of a sedan, the versatility of a fastback, and the spaciousness of an SUV. This innovative design eliminates compromises between these segments, offering a unique driving experience. Inside, the ES90 focuses on premium comfort with authentic materials reflecting Scandinavian design principles. Its long wheelbase provides ample legroom for second-row passengers. A panoramic roof offers UV protection, and an electrochromic option allows transparency adjustment. The four-zone climate system includes an advanced air purifier certified as asthma and allergy-friendly.
The ES90 introduces 800V technology for extended range and faster charging than previous models. It features pioneering safety technology at its core, aiming to become another Scandinavian design classic from Volvo Cars. The car's order books are open in select markets, marking it as the sixth fully electric model in Volvo's lineup.

The ES90 stands out with its confident stance and slightly elevated ride height for better road visibility. Its aerodynamic design enhances efficiency and electric range. The front showcases Thor’s Hammer headlights, while the rear features distinctive C-shaped LED lamps. Customers can choose from seven exterior colours and four wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
The boot offers up to 424 litres of space, expandable to 733 litres by folding down rear seats individually. A 22-litre frunk is ideal for storing charging cables. Inside, noise levels are low for a serene ride enhanced by a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos® spatial audio.
Infotainment System
The ES90 comes equipped with a new-generation infotainment system featuring Google built-in services like Google Maps and Google Assistant. Powered by Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform, it provides seamless access to navigation, entertainment, climate control, phone functions, and more through a 14.5-inch centre screen display.
A new 3D view supported by a 360-degree camera aids in navigating tight parking spaces. The system is designed to deliver driving-critical information efficiently through a 9-inch driver display and head-up display.
Performance Enhancements
The ES90 is built on SPA2 architecture using the Superset tech stack for improved performance throughout its lifecycle via over-the-air updates. Anders Bell, Chief Engineering Officer at Volvo Cars says: "The Superset is enabled by core computing... allowing us to further raise the bar on safety and overall performance through data, software and AI."
This model boasts advanced electric systems with an impressive drag coefficient of 0.25 for efficient movement through air resulting in less energy consumption. It can add 300 kilometres of range in just ten minutes at fast-charging stations.
Safety Innovations
Volvo's commitment to safety continues with the ES90 featuring state-of-the-art restraint systems alongside powerful core computers enhancing safety standards established by EX90 models previously released by Volvo Cars globally across various markets worldwide today.
