Volkswagen Introduces New Athlete Ambassadors And Launches 'Welcome To Our Turf' Campaign For Soccer Inclusion

Volkswagen of America has announced a new initiative to promote soccer's growth and inclusivity. This effort includes five U.S. Soccer athletes: Christian Pulisic, Naomi Girma, Raul Silva, Sandro Canale, and Emily Spreeman. Their involvement coincides with the launch of Volkswagen's campaign, "Welcome To Our Turf," which aims to enhance visibility and access in soccer.

The campaign features an anthem film with appearances by Landon Donovan and Ryan Connolly. It highlights the importance of representation across various soccer formats, from major events to local parks. The initiative underscores soccer's unifying power in different settings.

Volkswagen Launches Soccer Inclusion Campaign

"Soccer is a game for everyone," stated Rachael Zaluzec, Volkswagen's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience. She emphasized the company's commitment to ensuring all players are recognized and celebrated, regardless of their background or playing style.

Christian Pulisic, captain of the U.S. Men's National Team, is among the ambassadors. Known for his leadership both on and off the field, Pulisic has inspired many young players. He expressed pride in joining Volkswagen's mission to spotlight diverse forms of soccer.

Naomi Girma is a rising star on the U.S. Women's National Team. Born to Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants in California, she advocates for mental health and representation in sports. Girma was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year in 2023.

Raul Silva plays as a central defender for the U.S. Men's Deaf National Team. Originally from New Jersey, he champions accessibility in sports through his platform. His efforts focus on breaking barriers for athletes with disabilities.

Commitment to Accessibility

Emily Spreeman is known for her scoring prowess with the U.S. Women's Deaf National Team. A native of Southern California, she works to raise awareness about opportunities for Deaf athletes and girls in adaptive sports.

Sandro Canale leads as captain of the U.S. Beach Soccer National Team with over 100 caps. Residing in Venice Beach, he is celebrated for his technical skills and entertaining juggling tricks off-field.

Volkswagen's Broader Vision

Since partnering with U.S. Soccer in 2019, Volkswagen has focused on expanding access through various initiatives like youth camps and jersey collaborations featuring American Sign Language. These efforts reflect their vision to support diverse soccer communities.

"Representation is powerful," said Girma about her collaboration with Volkswagen to create more inclusive opportunities across all playing surfaces.

Pulisic added that there is no single way to play soccer; together they encourage participation on grass, turf, sand, hard courts, and beyond.

Volkswagen operates over 600 dealerships across America selling models like Atlas and Jetta while producing vehicles at its Chattanooga facility in Tennessee.
