Volkswagen Virtus Becomes Best Selling Premium Sedan In October 2025 Sales
German automaker Volkswagen has achieved its best-ever sales figures of 2,453 units in October 2025 with the Virtus Sedan. It is now the No. 1 Premium sedan in India, and it has already captured 40% of the sedan market, outshining rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and its sibling, the Skoda Slavia.
Volkswagen Virtus is the top sedan
Over the years, the Virtus has built a reputation as a sporty-looking premium sedan that offers excellent performance, safety, and German engineering. Together with Taigun, it has now crossed 1,60,000 units in domestic sales.

To bring the cost down, VW has completely localised production, with almost 90% of the parts and components sourced locally in India. This helps them reduce maintenance costs and make it more affordable for indian buyers. Volkswagen also offers 4-year service packages that are value for money.
The Volkswagen Virtus is part of Volkswagen's India 2.0 strategy, and was launched alongside the Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Slavia. This car attracted both family buyers and car enthusiasts. The design is top-notch, giving a premium luxury feel. It also has spacious interiors with excellent comfort.

The mid-premium sedan is offered in two variants: a 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI engine that produces 115PS and 178NM paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. A 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI engine that produces 150PS and 250NM is paired with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.
Both these engines have created an all-India record of covering the maximum distance in 24 hours. The 1.0 litre engine has crossed 4357.21 km, and the 1.5 litre engine has crossed 4654.48 km in 24 hours. The 1.0L variant pricing starts at 11.56 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to 17.10 lakhs (ex-showroom). The 1.5L price starts at 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to 19.41 lakh (ex-showroom).
