Volkswagen Tiguan R Line Set For 2025 India Debut: Key Features & Specs

The upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan R Line, set to make its debut in India in the early part of the second quarter of 2025. This top-tier model in the Tiguan series, unveiled globally in 2023, will be brought to the Indian market as a full import, indicating a premium pricing strategy. Alongside it, the Golf GTi is also expected to launch, enriching Volkswagen's high-end offerings in the country.

Exquisite Design & Advanced Features

The Tiguan R Line distinguishes itself with striking exterior modifications, including sportier front and rear bumpers, a sleek rear spoiler, and distinctive side panels that adhere to the R Line design specifications. Enhancing its road presence are full-width horizontal LED light strips and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Though it is yet undetermined whether the Black Style package, popular among international customers, will be available in India, this model is already set to make a statement with its design.

Inside, the Tiguan R Line is just as impressive, equipped with sports seats and an ambient lighting package that offers three light zones and 30 color choices. The interior boasts a 10.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.9-inch central infotainment screen, utilizing VW's latest MIB4 software platform capable of receiving over-the-air updates. The dashboard's clean and sophisticated design further elevates the cabin's ambiance.

Performance and Engineering Excellence

The latest Tiguan model is constructed on the MQB Evo platform, supporting a variety of powertrains, including mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel engines. Internationally, the lineup includes a 150hp, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine, a 204hp, 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid, a 265hp, 2.0-litre petrol, and a 150hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine, with the latter two options featuring 4Motion all-wheel drive systems.

While Volkswagen India has not yet disclosed which powertrains will be offered, the premium nature of the SUV might mean the inclusion of the higher-spec 2.0-litre petrol engine. Currently, the Tiguan available in India comes with a 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, equipped with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DCT.

In terms of size, the Tiguan R Line has grown in length by 30mm compared to its predecessor, now measuring 4,539mm in length, 1,639mm in height (excluding roof rails), and 1,842mm in width. Its wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,680mm, ensuring a spacious interior for passengers.

The Tiguan's current pricing stands at Rs 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom, India), but given the R Line's superior specifications and import status, a significant increase in price is anticipated for this next-generation SUV.
