Volkswagen Begins Bookings For Tiguan R Line Ahead Of Launch In India
Volkswagen has begun accepting bookings for the eagerly anticipated Tiguan R Line in India, with availability both online and at physical dealerships. This move precedes the official launch of the Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit scheduled for April 14. The company's local website has been updated to include comprehensive information about the Tiguan R-Line, covering everything from engine specifications to the range of available colors.
The Tiguan R Line, Volkswagen's performance-oriented model, is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain is capable of delivering 204 horsepower and a peak torque of 320Nm. It incorporates a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, boasting acceleration from 0 to 100kph in just 7.1 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 229kph.

As for its appearance, the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line will be presented in India in a selection of six single-tone color options. The available shades are Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressino Green Metallic, and Oyster Silver Metallic, offering a diverse palette to suit different tastes.
Inside, the Tiguan R Line is just as impressive, featuring a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), a large 12.9-inch touchscreen for the central infotainment system, and a 10.3-inch digital instrument display. The images shared by Volkswagen highlight the vehicle's sport seats, ambient lighting package, and modern infotainment system powered by VW's latest MIB4 OS, which supports updates over the air. Additionally, it includes a drive selector, steering-mounted controls, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a dual-zone climate control system that integrates seamlessly with the touchscreen.
In terms of pricing, the Tiguan R Line is expected to come with a premium price tag. Given that the standard Volkswagen Tiguan was last listed at Rs 38.17 lakh and was assembled locally as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, the Tiguan R Line, being a direct import, is anticipated to be priced around Rs 50 lakh, exclusive of showroom costs in India.
Volkswagen's introduction of the Tiguan R Line is part of the brand's broader strategy to expand its high-performance and electric vehicle offerings in India. This comes alongside sightings of the Volkswagen Golf GTI in the country and recent unveilings of the Volkswagen ID Every1 concept, which hints at an affordable EV option, and the Volkswagen Tera, a new entry-level SUV revealed in Brazil. These developments underscore Volkswagen's commitment to diversifying its product lineup in India, catering to both performance enthusiasts and eco-conscious consumers.
