Volkswagen Group Of America Contributes Nearly $44 Billion And Supports Over 164,000 Jobs In The U.S.
Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) and its dealerships have significantly impacted the U.S. economy, supporting 164,470 jobs and contributing nearly $44 billion in economic output. A recent Deloitte study highlights VWGoA's investments and growth since 2019. The company has expanded its manufacturing and research capabilities, boosting its economic influence in American communities.
The study reveals that VWGoA's operations, including over 900 Volkswagen and Audi dealerships nationwide, generated $4.55 billion in federal, state, and local tax contributions in 2024. This underscores the company's commitment to the U.S. market through job creation and regional supply chain investments.

Since 2019, VWGoA has increased its U.S. manufacturing workforce by over 30%, reaching nearly 4,000 employees. This growth is largely due to the assembly of models like the ID.4, Atlas, and Atlas Cross Sport at its Chattanooga plant. Overall, VWGoA supported more than 48,000 direct jobs and 116,000 indirect or induced jobs across the country.
Dr. Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, stated: "This study underscores our deep investment and long-term commitment in the American market." The company's economic contribution has grown by more than $10 billion since the last study in 2019.
Tennessee, home to Volkswagen's assembly plant, saw a significant impact with $6.7 billion in gross output through nearly 17,000 jobs. VWGoA also invested $190 million into infrastructure spending via Electrify America and donated over $7.5 million to charitable causes focusing on education, youth development, and environmental programs.
Deloitte's analysis used IMPLAN economic modeling software with data from VWGoA to assess employment, compensation, benefits, and supplier spending impacts. The findings highlight VWGoA's role as a major contributor to the U.S. economy.
