Volkswagen Golf GTI Launch Confirmed:The OG Hot Hatch If Finally Coming To India
GermaN carmaker Volkswagen has confirmed that it is bringing the iconic Golg GTI hot hatch to India. The launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI is expected to happen in the next quarter (April-June) and the hot hatch is expected to be priced around Rs 52 lakh (ex-showroom) when it arrives in India.
The introduction of the Volkswagen Golf GTI to the Indian market marks a significant moment for car enthusiasts in India.The microsite for the Golf GTI and the Tiguan R-Line is already live and while details are scarce some dealerships are said to be accepting orders for the hot hatch which is expected to be available in limited numbers in India.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Design & Features
The Golf GTI features some unique design elements that help it stand out from the regular Golf including matrix LED headlights, a sleek grille with the 'VW’ badge at its centre, and a front bumper adorned with a striking honeycomb mesh pattern.
The hot hatch rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, with a 19-inch option available and also features a roof spoiler, dual exhaust system and rear diffuser. The 'GTI’ badges strategically placed on the grille, fender, and tailgate, underscore its sportier edge over other hatchbacks.
Inside, the Golf GTI offers a luxurious all-black cabin, complete with tartan-clad sports seats and a layered dashboard design. It features a GTI-specific digital instrument cluster and a large 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. Additional amenities include metallic pedals, a 3-spoke steering wheel with the 'GTI’ badge, automatic air conditioning, a wireless phone charger, and ambient lighting, all contributing to a comfortable and engaging ride.
Under the hood, the Golf GTI boasts a powerful 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers an impressive 245 PS and 370 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that propels the front wheels. The hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 kmph, making it a formidable contender in the performance hatchback segment.
