VinFast Showcased VF 6 & VF 7 Electric SUVs Ahead Of Launch: Announces USD 2 Billion Investment
Vinfast, a Vietnamese car manufacturer, is gearing up to enter the Indian market with its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. These models will be followed by others like the Vinfast VF e34 and VF 3. The company has shown its commitment to India by investing USD 2 billion. Production is scheduled to start in July at their facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The Vinfast VF 6 and VF 7 were recently displayed at a mall in Chennai, as captured by automotive enthusiast Manoj Prabakaran. This showcase precedes their official launch later this year. While specific details for the Indian market are not yet disclosed, the Vinfast VF 6 is expected to mirror its counterparts sold in other Asian regions.

Vinfast VF 6 Specifications
The Vinfast VF 6 in Vietnam comes in two variants: Eco and Plus. Both versions feature a 59.6 kWh battery pack. The Eco variant offers a range of 480 km, while the Plus variant provides a range of 460 km (NEDC). The crossover SUV measures 4,241 mm in length.
Power output for the Eco variant is rated at 130 kW (177 PS) with torque of 250 Nm. The Plus variant delivers higher power at 150 kW (204 PS) and torque of 310 Nm. Common features across both variants include drive modes such as Eco, Normal, and Sport, along with sporty LED lighting.
Shared Features Across Models
Both the VF 6 and VF 7 come equipped with several shared features. These include a head-up display (HUD), a large touchscreen infotainment system measuring 12.9 inches, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, artificial leather upholstery, and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety features are also consistent across these models. They include traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, blind spot warning, tyre pressure monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and a comprehensive 360° camera system.
Vinfast VF 7 Specifications
The Vinfast VF 7 is larger than the VF 6, measuring 4,545 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It is available in three variants: Eco, Plus, and Plus AWD. The Eco variant uses a similar battery pack as the VF 6 at 59.6 kWh but offers a range of up to 498 km (NEDC).
The Plus AWD variant boasts superior performance with an output of 260 kW (354 PS) and torque of up to 500 Nm. Meanwhile, the standard Plus variant generates power of up to 150 kW (204 PS) with torque reaching up to 310 Nm.
Advanced Features of Vinfast VF Models
The Vinfast VF models come loaded with advanced features like electric foldable and adjustable ORVMs and auto-dimming IRVMs. They also have fine dust filters for improved air quality inside the cabin along with rear AC vents for passenger comfort.
An eight-speaker sound system enhances entertainment options within the vehicle. Smart control features include geofencing capabilities, operating time limits for enhanced safety measures along with online entertainment options such as navigation services via OTA updates or voice commands through virtual assistants or gaming options on board.
Pricing will be crucial for Vinfast's success in India's EV market. In Vietnam, the starting price for the Vinfast VF 6 is approximately Rs 22.72 lakh while that for the Vinfast VF7 begins around Rs26 .35 lakh.
