Kia EV9 Owners Can Now Pre-Order V2H Charging Technology With Wallbox's Quasar 2 Charger
Wallbox has announced that Kia EV9 owners and lessees can now pre-order the Quasar 2 bi-directional charger. This charger, along with the Power Recovery Unit, enables Vehicle to Home (V2H) capabilities. It allows energy stored in the vehicle to power homes during outages or adverse weather. Pre-orders are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The Quasar 2 charger provides up to 12 kW of power for both charging and discharging. It is priced at $6,440, excluding taxes and installation fees. Limited quantities are available for pre-order, with priority given to those who register early. The initial release will be limited to certain states before expanding nationwide.

Eligible Kia EV9 owners can benefit from V2H technology by managing their energy usage more efficiently. This system not only provides backup power during blackouts but also helps reduce electricity bills by using stored grid energy or solar surpluses during peak hours. Users can also schedule when to charge their vehicle or power specific home areas.
Enric Asunción, CEO of Wallbox, expressed excitement about the pre-order availability of the Quasar 2 charger. "This cutting-edge technology allows eligible EV9 owners and lessees to take control of their energy usage and costs, while also providing backup power during power outages," he stated.
The Kia EV9 continues to impress with its advanced features and accolades. It offers ultrafast charging capabilities, going from 10% to 80% charge in under 25 minutes using high-speed DC chargers. The SUV accommodates six or seven passengers and includes the latest in-vehicle technologies like ultra-wideband-based Digital Key and Onboard Power Generator functionality.
Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, highlighted the significance of V2H capabilities for the EV9: "The EV9 is a high watermark among EV SUVs, offering an impressive blend of amenities, technology, practicality and performance." He added that V2H expands the role of the EV9 beyond just mobility.
