VeeKay And Simpson Celebrate First Career Podiums For Honda At Ontario Indy Toronto

Rinus VeeKay achieved a significant milestone by finishing second at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto. This marked his first podium with Dale Coyne Racing. Meanwhile, Kyffin Simpson from Chip Ganassi Racing secured his first-ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES podium with a third-place finish. Simpson, aged 20, made an impressive climb from 13th to third place, becoming the race's biggest mover. His performance was notable as he drove the Journie Rewards #8 Honda to its first podium finish. The Andretti Global trio of Colton Herta, Marcus Ericsson, and Kyle Kirkwood finished just behind him.

Graham Rahal from Rahal Letterman Lanigan secured seventh place, contributing to Honda's strong presence in the top seven positions. Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing managed to finish tenth after starting seventeenth. However, Alex Palou's championship lead narrowed slightly due to his twelfth-place result.

Honda has dominated the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES by winning 11 out of 13 races. This success has given them a substantial lead in the manufacturers' standings with a 205-point advantage over their competitors.

Driver Reactions

"That was awesome," said Rinus VeeKay about his second-place finish. He credited strategic decisions and effective fuel management for their success. "Great work by the Dale Coyne Racing crew," he added, expressing gratitude for Honda's support.

"First podium! It's just incredible," exclaimed Kyffin Simpson after securing third place. He described the race as a roller coaster but praised his team for turning things around. "It's great to get the first podium here in Journie's hometown," he remarked enthusiastically.

Looking Ahead

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES will next head to California for the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from July 25-27. This event promises more excitement as teams continue to compete fiercely throughout the season.
