Vasser Sullivan's No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 Secures Second Place At Sebring Endurance Race
The Vasser Sullivan No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 secured a second-place finish at the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Drivers Jack Hawksworth, Parker Thompson, and Frankie Montecalvo led the GTD class for 77 laps on the 17-turn, 3.74-mile track. Despite leading in the final minutes, contact from another car resulted in a second-place result.
In the GTD PRO category, Aaron Telitz began the race in seventh place with the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3. He maintained a top-10 position before handing over to Jose Maria Lopez. Unfortunately, Lopez faced an incident that required repairs to the steering rack. The team managed to return to the race but eventually retired with less than two hours remaining.
Parker Thompson praised the Vasser Sullivan team for their efforts, stating, "Huge props to the Vasser Sullivan team for getting us back in the position where we can fight for wins." He emphasised that while they aimed for victory, securing a podium finish was crucial for championship aspirations.
Frankie Montecalvo expressed his satisfaction with their performance: "It feels pretty incredible to finish P2 at Sebring considering where we were a couple nights ago just getting our Lexus back out there." He acknowledged the team's hard work and dedication in achieving this result.
Jose Maria Lopez shared mixed feelings about his experience with Vasser Sullivan: "I have mixed feelings. I’m very happy to be here and see a podium finish for the Vasser Sullivan team." Despite challenges during the race, he appreciated being part of the team and hoped to return soon.
Kyle Kirkwood reflected on supporting their teammates after retiring from the race: "Overall, can’t be upset with a second place on the 12 car." He highlighted their collective effort in helping secure a podium finish despite setbacks.
Looking Ahead to Future Races
The next event for Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3s is at Long Beach Grand Prix on April 12. The team aims to build on their momentum from Sebring as they compete in this sprint race. Their focus remains on teamwork and strategy to achieve success in upcoming races.
Aaron Telitz described his challenging day at Sebring: "It was a tougher day than we would’ve liked here at the Twelve Hours of Sebring for the 14 car." Despite setbacks, he remained hopeful for better results during future sprint races.
