Vantage GT3 Celebrates Victories In IMSA, British GT Championship, And Iconic Races
The Heart of Racing (THOR) secured a thrilling victory in the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen, marking their first win of the 2025 IMSA GTD class season. Drivers Tom Gamble, Zach Robichon, and Casper Stevenson achieved this feat at the renowned Watkins Glen circuit in New York. This triumph represents THOR's fourth IMSA GT win since 2022, highlighting their consistent performance.
Robichon began the race from pole position, navigating through nine full-course yellow flags and heavy rain. Despite these challenges, he maintained the lead before handing over to Stevenson. Stevenson faced setbacks due to contact with a rival but managed to keep the team in contention. Gamble took over during another caution period and executed a remarkable comeback from eighth place.
Gamble's strategic driving and THOR's fuel-saving tactics proved decisive when the leading Lexus ran out of fuel on the final lap. "I’d actually settled for second at that point," said Gamble. "I can barely believe we’ve won the race." This victory marked Gamble and Stevenson's first wins for THOR in IMSA, following podium finishes at Daytona and Sebring.
Aston Martin Vantage GT3 achieved its first top 10 finish in eight years at the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring. Partner teams PROsport Racing and Walkenhorst Motorsport each secured class podiums in this challenging German event. PROsport Racing finished seventh overall, claiming second in the SP9 Pro-Am class with drivers Steven Palette, Marek Böckmann, and Nico Bastian.
Walkenhorst Motorsport's #34 Vantage GT3 showed podium potential but encountered technical issues while running third overall. However, their #30 SP9 Am Vantage finished second in class thanks to a flawless run by Henry Walkenhorst, Jörg Breuer, Stefan Aust, and Christian Bollrath.
In another significant achievement, Jonny Adam became the most successful British GT driver with his 20th victory at Spa-Francorchamps. Teaming up with Giacamo Petrobelli for Blackthorn, Adam secured this milestone win in Round 5 of the British GT Championship. This victory also marked Blackthorn's maiden series win.
Pikes Peak Triumph
A specially developed Aston Martin Vantage GT4 claimed its first class victory at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Stephen Wetterau dominated the Pikes Peak GT4 Trophy division with his BBI Autosport Team-entered Vantage. His performance earned him pole position and a time significantly faster than his nearest competitor.
Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport Adam Carter praised these achievements: "This has been a stellar weekend for Vantage all around." He congratulated Jonny Adam on his record-breaking success and acknowledged THOR's consistent results at Watkins Glen. Carter also highlighted Wetterau’s impressive win at Pikes Peak as a testament to Vantage’s versatility.
Aston Martin continues to demonstrate its prowess across various motorsport events worldwide. These recent victories underscore their commitment to excellence and innovation in racing.
