Upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs In India; e Vitara To Be Showcased At The Auto Expo 2025

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to expand its SUV lineup in India next year. The Japanese automaker plans to introduce at least two new SUVs with petrol, strong hybrid, and electric vehicle (EV) powertrains. These additions are expected to enhance Maruti's presence in the competitive Indian SUV market.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

The Maruti e Vitara will be the brand's first electric vehicle, based on the eVX concept. While it retains much of the concept's design, some elements have been simplified for production. Scheduled for a March 2025 release, it will be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. The e Vitara will offer two battery pack options, with a unique all-wheel-drive variant available in the top-spec model.

The entry-level e Vitara variant will come equipped with a 49kWh battery powering a 144hp motor on the front axle. Meanwhile, the larger 61kWh battery pack will support a more powerful 174hp motor. The all-wheel-drive version combines this bigger battery with an additional 65hp motor on the rear axle, resulting in a total output of 184hp and torque of 300Nm.

Maruti aims for an MIDC range exceeding 500km for the e Vitara, which should be achievable given its weight of between 1,702kg and 1,899kg depending on the variant. Competing against models like Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE 6e, it is also anticipated to include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
