2026 Mahindra Thar Roxx: What Are The Expectations?
Mahindra is gearing up to launch an updated version of the Thar Roxx next year. This refreshed model is expected to feature a new 1.5L diesel engine option along with feature upgrades. The addition of a smaller diesel engine could make pricing more approachable and make Thar Roxx's more competitive. Here are our expectations for the upcoming model.
2026 Mahindra Thar Roxx Expectations
The Mahindra Thar and the 5-door Thar Roxx are among the most popular SUVs in the company's lineup. They are also the cars with the longest waiting periods, around six months. The Thar Roxx offers greater practicality with its 5-door layout and increased space, making it more appealing to a wider audience.
The upcoming model is anticipated to receive a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine, which could make it more affordable and appealing to a wider audience. Currently, the Thar Roxx is offered with two powertrain choices. The 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol that produces 119 kW and 330 Nm in the manual variant, while the automatic version delivers 130 kW and 380 Nm.
The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine produces 111.9 kW and 330 Nm for the 2WD model, whereas the 4x4 version produces 129.6 kW and 370 Nm. The 1.5L mHawk Diesel engine is already available with the Bolero, producing 55.9 kW of power and 210 Nm of torque, paired with a manual gearbox.
Other features
The 2026 update is also expected to bring a refreshed front fascia with an updated grille and bumpers, Sharper LED headlamps with DRLs, and redesigned alloy wheels. Inside, the Roxx may feature a dual-tone upholstery, an upgraded dashboard, ambient lighting, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully-digital instrument cluster. For safety, it will continue with standard six airbags and a Level 2 ADAS.
Currently, prices for the Mahindra Thar Roxx start at 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top variant is priced at 22.06 lakh (ex-showroom). With a smaller diesel engine option expected to join the lineup, the SUV could become even more accessible to new buyers.
