Upcoming Electric Vehicle Launches In India's Automotive Sector For March 2025
In March 2025, India's automotive sector is set for a surge in vehicle launches, with a strong focus on electric vehicles (EVs). This marks a departure from February's emphasis on model updates and special editions. Maruti is preparing to debut its first EV, while Volvo will reveal an updated XC90 SUV. MG is also ready to introduce an all-electric roadster. Here's what car enthusiasts in India can anticipate.
Maruti plans to launch its inaugural electric SUV, the e-Vitara, around mid-March 2025. This model, showcased at Auto Expo 2025, features a robust design and upscale interior. Although Maruti hasn't confirmed the exact launch date, anticipation is high, with some dealers reportedly accepting bookings. The e-Vitara will offer two battery choices: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, providing a range of over 500 km. The expected price is ₹17 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Meanwhile, Tata's Harrier EV is set to hit the market by late March 2025. Displayed at Auto Expo, this electric version retains the Harrier's original design but includes EV-specific features. Tata has disclosed that it will feature a dual electric motor setup and all-wheel drive system, delivering 500 Nm of torque. The anticipated price is ₹30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
MG is preparing to launch its first electric two-door car, the Cyberster, towards the end of March 2025. This vehicle drew significant attention at Auto Expo and recently achieved a record for its 0-100 kmph acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds. Equipped with a 77 kWh battery and dual electric motors, the Cyberster generates 510 PS power and 725 Nm of torque. MG intends to offer it through select dealerships at ₹50 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Kia is expected to introduce an updated EV6 in mid-March 2025, featuring design and interior enhancements. These updates include revised LED headlamps, a new alloy wheel design, a two-spoke steering wheel, and an updated centre console. The facelifted EV6 will come with dual 12.3-inch displays, a 12-inch heads-up display, and ADAS technology. It will be powered by an enlarged 84 kWh battery pack for an extended range exceeding 650 km. The expected price is ₹63 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Volvo will unveil the facelifted XC90 on March 4th, 2025. This model will feature subtle aesthetic changes and an upgraded cabin. Expected enhancements include a new bumper, updated LED lights, and new alloy wheels. Inside, it will be equipped with an 11.2-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch driver display, four-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. It is likely to retain its mild-hybrid petrol engine with a potential plug-in hybrid option. The expected price is ₹1.05 crore (ex-showroom).
Mercedes has announced the release of the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series on March 17th, 2025. This sporty Maybach will feature a dual-tone red and black exterior with sleek LED headlights and 21-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it will offer luxurious amenities with a dual-tone white and ash theme and Maybach-specific elements. It will be powered by a 4-litre dual-turbo V8 petrol engine that accelerates from 0-100 kmph in four seconds, delivering 585 PS power and 800 Nm of torque.
