Trail Boss Trim Enhances Off-Road Capability In The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Lineup

Chevrolet is expanding its Silverado EV lineup by introducing the Trail Boss trim, known for its off-road prowess, to the 2026 model. This addition will be available starting this summer. The Trail Boss trim, previously seen on Silverado and Colorado models, combines off-road capabilities with the advantages of an electric vehicle. Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, stated, "Trail Boss has been one of the highest turning trims in our portfolio since we first launched it on the 2019 Silverado."

The Trail Boss version of the Silverado EV offers a significant increase in ground clearance, boasting a 24% lift compared to the base model. It features a specially tuned coil suspension with hydraulic rebound control. Joe Roy, chief engineer for Silverado EV, commented on its capabilities: "The Silverado EV Trail Boss delivers similar capability expected with other Chevy Trail Bosses." This trim also includes Terrain mode for enhanced control on uneven surfaces.

The Trail Boss trim is equipped with various drive modes like off-road and Sidewinder mode. Sidewinder allows all wheels to move in unison at low speeds, facilitating diagonal movement. This feature can be selected from the infotainment screen and aids in navigating rugged terrains or tight spaces. The truck's design reflects its off-road nature with bold aesthetics and exclusive features such as high-angle approach front fascia and rugged tires.

In terms of performance, the Trail Boss with an extended range battery pack can tow up to 12,500 pounds and carry a payload of 2,100 pounds. It offers up to 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque with the Max Range battery pack. These specifications ensure that it meets both power and utility needs for adventurous drivers.

The Silverado EV comes with updated driver assistance features like Super Cruise enhancements integrated with Google Maps for seamless navigation on compatible roads. The system now includes hands-on functionality that maintains lane centering while adapting to traffic speed. Adaptive Cruise Control has been improved to adjust speed according to posted limits automatically.

Super Cruise is available on LT and Trail Boss trims, offering hands-free driving when conditions permit. The steering wheel lightbar indicates when this mode is active by turning green. These advancements aim to provide comfort and ease during long drives.

Diverse Trim Options

Chevrolet's Silverado EV lineup includes three trims: Work Truck (WT), LT, and Trail Boss. Each caters to different price points and capability needs. The starting MSRP for the 2026 Silverado EV is $54,895. Notable features across all trims include up to 10.2kW of off-board power and Multi-Flex Midgate availability on LT and Trail Boss.

The lineup offers various battery packs providing different ranges: Standard (286 miles), Extended (424 miles), and Max (493 miles). These options ensure customers have choices based on their driving requirements.
