Toyota Kirloskar Motors Achieves 22.21% Sales Growth In May 2025
Toyota Kirloskar Motors achieved significant sales growth in May 2025, positioning itself as the fifth top-selling car manufacturer in India. The company sold 29,280 units, marking a 22.21% increase compared to May 2024's 23,959 units. This growth translates to an additional 5,321 vehicles sold. Month-on-month sales also rose by 17.91%, up from April 2025's total of 24,833 units.
In terms of year-on-year performance, the Toyota HyRyder emerged as the company's best-selling model. This compact SUV recorded sales of 7,573 units in May 2025, reflecting a remarkable 93.88% increase from the previous year's figure of 3,906 units. It also secured the second spot among best-selling SUVs in the 4.2-4.4m segment with a market share of 25.86%.

HyRyder & Hycross Lead Sales
The Toyota Hycross followed closely with sales of 5,243 units last month, showing an increase of 18.86% compared to May 2024's sales of 4,411 units. The Hycross holds a substantial share of Toyota's portfolio at 17.91%. Additionally, the introduction of the Hycross Exclusive Edition with new features and colour options contributed to its popularity.
Despite overall positive trends, some models experienced declines in year-on-year sales figures. The Toyota Glanza saw a decrease of 5.22%, selling only 4,753 units compared to last year's figure of 4,517 units. Similarly, the Innova Crysta faced a decline of 12.04%, with sales dropping from May 2024's total of 4,137 units to just 3,639 last month.
Mixed Performance Across Models
On a brighter note, Toyota Taisor experienced a significant surge in demand with a year-on-year increase of 39.22%. This model sold an additional volume of 855 units compared to May last year when it sold only 2,180 units. Fortuner sales also rose by a modest margin of 6.15%, reaching a total of 2,571 units.
The Rumion MPV experienced a slight decline in year-on-year sales by just 0.10%, selling only two fewer units than last year's total of 1,919 units. Meanwhile, Hilux and Camry models showed improvements with increases in sales by approximately 13.78% and an impressive 62.30%, respectively.
Month-on-Month Growth Trends
Month-on-month comparisons for May revealed positive trends for most models within Toyota's lineup as well. The HyRyder saw its monthly sales rise by an impressive 63.14%, up from April's total of 4,642 units sold while Hycross observed 16.67% growth over April's tally of 4,494 units.
The Glanza and Crysta models also benefited from increased demand on a month-to-month basis with respective gains of 15.03% and 13.54%. Taisor continued its upward trajectory with 25.36% growth over April’s figure of 2,421 units sold.
Fluctuations in Fortuner & Rumion Sales
However not all models fared equally well; Fortuner experienced an 11.47% dip in monthly sales falling from April’s count of 2,904 to just 2,571 units last month. Meanwhile, the Rumion MPV saw a sharp 22 .14 % decline from April sales which stood at 2462 units.
