Discover Iconic Vehicles From The '80s And '90s At Petersen Automotive Museum's New Exhibit
The Petersen Automotive Museum is set to unveil a captivating exhibit that pays homage to the vibrant '80s and '90s. This showcase will feature an array of cars from these iconic decades, alongside nostalgic memorabilia. The exhibit, titled "Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ’80s and ’90s," will be the museum's first large-scale display celebrating this radical era.
The exhibition will present a diverse collection of vehicles, including concept cars, production models, and famous pop culture cars. Visitors can also engage with interactive elements such as retro video games and technology in the Mullin Grand Salon. Noteworthy vehicles on display include the 1996 Vector M12, 1995 McLaren F1, and the 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 "Time Machine" from "Back to the Future."

Among the highlighted vehicles are the 1995 Nissan NISMO GT-R LM Road Car and the 1991 Koenig C62. Additionally, visitors can see the 1984 Pac-Man Rod and the 1985 Lamborghini Countach 5000S. The exhibit also features a 1985 Audi Sport Quattro Group B rally car and a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette Indy concept.
The collection includes rare models like the first-ever built 1987 Buick GNX and a 1989 Lamborghini LM002. Fans of unique designs will appreciate the 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T. The display also showcases a 1998 Volkswagen Beetle featured in "Austin Powers," among other remarkable vehicles.
Media members are invited to exclusive previews on Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The public opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 7. The event takes place at Petersen Automotive Museum located at 6060 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California.
The museum operates under the Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation, a non-profit charity organization. Admission fees are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors aged 62 and above, $13 for youth aged between 12 to 17 years old, and $12 for children aged four to eleven years old.
Visiting Information
Active military personnel with ID, personal care attendants, and children under four years old can enter free of charge. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing ample time for visitors to explore this exciting exhibit.
