Top 10 Best-Selling Hatchbacks In India For January 2025: Maruti Suzuki Dominates
Hatchback cars are a popular choice in India due to their affordability. Many car manufacturers offer multiple hatchback models, with Maruti Suzuki leading the way by selling seven different models. This article examines the top 10 best-selling hatchbacks in January 2025, highlighting key sales figures and trends.
Maruti Suzuki's dominance in the Indian hatchback market is evident, as it secured the top four spots in January's sales rankings. These four models were the only ones to surpass 10,000 units sold during the month. The company's success is largely attributed to its range of budget-friendly hatchbacks.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR emerged as the best-selling hatchback in January 2025, with approximately 24,708 units sold. It also claimed the title of the overall best-selling car for the month. This marks a significant increase from January 2024, when 17,756 WagonR cars were sold.
In second place was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which also ranked as the second best-selling car overall. Last month, 19,965 Baleno units were sold, maintaining a similar sales figure to January 2024. The consistent performance of these models underscores their popularity among Indian consumers.
Following closely behind were two more Maruti hatchbacks: Swift and Alto. The Swift secured third place with sales of 17,081 units, while the Alto came in fourth with 11,352 units sold last month.
The Tata Tiago took fifth place with sales reaching 6,807 units. Hyundai's i10 Nios and i20 followed in sixth and seventh positions, recording sales of 5,311 and 4,741 units respectively. These figures highlight Hyundai's presence in the competitive hatchback segment.
The final three spots on the top 10 list were occupied by Maruti Suzuki Ignis (3,780), Toyota Glanza (3,455), and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso (2,895). These models round out a diverse selection of hatchbacks that appeal to various consumer preferences.
Despite fierce competition from other brands, Maruti Suzuki continues to leverage its stronghold in the hatchback market. The company's ability to consistently deliver high sales volumes for its models reaffirms its position as a leader in this segment.
In addition to these top-selling models, there are six other hatchback variants available in India. However, their sales figures remain below 2,000 units each. This further emphasizes Maruti Suzuki's strength and influence within the Indian automotive landscape.
