Top 25 Best-Selling Cars In India: August 2025 Sales Report - Ertiga, Dzire & Creta Lead
India's passenger vehicle market saw steady volumes in August 2025, with Maruti Suzuki continuing to dominate the sales charts. The brand occupied a majority of the top 10 positions, while Hyundai and Tata models held key spots in the SUV space.
Overall, Maruti Ertiga claimed the number one position with more than 18,000 units sold, followed closely by the Maruti Dzire sedan and Hyundai Creta. Maruti Suzuki claimed 8 of the top 10

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga secured the first spot on the sales charts with 18,445 units sold, marginally lower than August 2024's 18,580 units, a decline of 0.73%. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire followed in the second spot , recording 16,509 units sold in August 2025, up from 10,629 units sold over the sae period last year a gain of 55.35% YoY.
The Hyundai Creta claimed the final podium spot with 15,924 units sold last month. This was 3.78% YoyY decline in sales, compared to the 16,549 units sold in the same month last year.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R took the fourth spot, registering sales of 14,552 units, down from 16,456 units in August 2024, a reduction of 11.54% year-on-year. The Tata Nexon finished fifth, with 14,004 units sold in August 2025. This was an improvement over the 12,349 units achieved last August, reflecting a 13.39% YoY increase.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was placed sixth, with 13,620 units sold last month, a fall from 19,190 units sold in August 2024. The compact SUV recorded a 29.03% YoY decline in sales. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno came seventh with 12,549 units sold last month, slightly higher than August 2024's 12,463 units, showing a 0.69% YoY growth.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx held the eighth position, clocking 12,422 units compared to 10,543 units a year earlier. The compact crossover registered a 17.82% YoY increase in sales. THe Maruti Suzuki Swift was in ninth place with 12,385 units sold last month. This was lower than the 12,856 units sold in August 2024, with sales of the Swift down by 3.67% YoY.
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco rounded off the top 10 with 10,785 units sold last month. The EEco's sales dropped marginally by 1.14% YoY below last August's 10,909 units.
