Top 10 Best-Selling Sedans In India For January 2025: Maruti, Hyundai & Honda In Top 3
In January 2025, the sedan market in India saw a mixed bag of results with some models experiencing growth while others faced declines. Maruti Suzuki Dzire led the charts despite a drop in sales, selling 15,383 units. This represented a decrease of 8.07% year-on-year (YoY) and 7.18% month-on-month (MoM), from the previous figures of 16,733 units and 16,573 units, respectively. Despite this downturn, Dzire still constituted nearly half of the sedan segment's sales, claiming 47.58% of the total, albeit a decrease from 52.54% in December 2024.
Following the Dzire, the Hyundai Aura claimed the second spot by selling 5,388 units. This accounted for 16.66% of the sedan sales, showing a slight YoY decrease of 2.32% but a significant MoM rise of 39.88%, suggesting a rebound in Aura's popularity.

In contrast, the Honda Amaze secured third place with 3,591 units sold, marking a notable 20.83% YoY increase, though it saw a slight 3.16% MoM dip in sales. The Amaze contributed to 11.11% of the total sedan sales, highlighting its growing appeal in the Indian market.
The sedan market's dynamics were further illustrated by the performance of the VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia, positioned fourth and fifth with sales of 1,795 and 1,510 units respectively. Both models suffered MoM declines, with sales dropping by over 20%. However, while Virtus experienced a slight YoY decrease, Slavia's sales rose by 21.58%, indicating varied consumer preferences within the segment.

Amidst these fluctuations, the Tata Tigor and its electric variant showed resilience with a combined sale of 1,484 units, a 40.80% MoM increase, despite a minor YoY decline. The Hyundai Verna, on the other hand, witnessed a drastic 32% YoY fall in sales but rebounded with a 69.38% MoM growth, selling 1,477 units.
In a surprising turn, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz outsold the Honda City, recording 768 units versus City's 739, with a remarkable 111.57% YoY growth and a 65.52% MoM increase for the Ciaz. Despite City's sales dropping by 34.19% YoY and 5.62% MoM, both vehicles demonstrated the competitive nature of the sedan market.

The Toyota Camry, positioned at the tenth spot, sold 197 units, experiencing a significant 36.86% YoY decline but an impressive 123.86% MoM growth. This contrast highlights the Camry's potential resurgence in the market, despite its executive sedan competitor, the Skoda Superb, not recording any sales in the same period.
