Top 10 Bestselling Compact SUVs (August 2025) – Creta Still King, Hyryder Pips Badge-Swapped Sibling
India's compact SUV segment had a slow August 2025. Total sales stood at 42,835 units, marking an 8.21% month-on-month decline (-3,832 units) and a 14.18% year-on-year fall (-7,077 units).
Buyers stayed cautious ahead of the festive season, and upcoming changes to GST and launches kept some wallets sealed. Even so, Hyundai's Creta maintained its crown, while Toyota's Hyryder powered ahead as the biggest gainer. Here's how the top 10 compact SUVs stacked up in August 2025...
1. Hyundai Creta
Hyundai's Creta led the charge with 15,924 units sold.. The numbers show a 5.76% MoM decline (-974 units) versus July and a 5.00% YoY fall (-838 units).
2. Toyota Hyryder
The Hyryder continued its strong run with 9,100 units sold last month, climbing 3.24% MoM (+286 units) and surging 39.27% YoY (+2,566 units).
3. Maruti Grand Vitara
Maruti's Grand Vitara accounted for 5,743 units sold in August, slipping 9.89% MoM (-630 units) and tumbling 36.34% YoY (-3,278 units).
4. Kia Seltos
Kia's Seltos managed 4,687 units last month. Sales of the Seltos saw a 22.01% MoM drop (-1,323 units) and a 28.29% YoY decline (-1,849 units).
5. Tata Curvv
Tata's Curvv accounted for 1,703 units last month. Sales of the Tata Curvv were down 15.06% MoM (-302 units) and crashed 50.71% YoY (-1,752 units). The Tata Curvv accounted for 3.98% of all the compact SUVs sold in India last month.
6. Honda Elevate
The Elevate had a decent month in August with 1,660 units sold. Sales of the Honda Elevate climbed 19% MoM (+265 units). However, Year-on-year, it dipped by 3.66% (-63 units).
7. Mahindra BE.06
Mahindra's sporty electric entry clocked 1,551 units. The Mahindra BE.06 sales last month just edged out its July tally of 1,546 units (+0.32% MoM, +5 units).
8. Volkswagen Taigun
Volkswagen registered 1,001 units of the Taigun in August 2025. Sales of the VW Taigun fell by 24.57% MoM (-326 units) and 38.51% YoY (-627 units).
9. Skoda Kushaq
Skoda's Kushaq followed a similar path as its Volkswagen Group sibling with 789 units sold. Sales of the Skoda Kushaq slid by 12.43% MoM (-112 units), while YoY sales plummeted by 47.47% (-713 units).
10. MG ZS EV
The MG ZS EV wraps up our Top 10 list with 380 units sold last month. Sales of MG's electric SUV plunged by 53.37% MoM (-435 units) and also fell by 21.49% YoY (-104 units).
