Top 10 Best-Selling Sedans Of August 2025 - Dzire Continues To Lead
India's sedan market closed August 2025 with 28,451 units sold. The sedan sales for August 2025 reflects a 15.01% increase over the 24,738 units sold in August 2024. However, compared to July 2025's sales of 33,281 units, the segment registered a 14.51% decline.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire led the field once again with 16,509 units in August 2025. The Dzire posted a 55.35% rise year on year against the 10,627 units sold in August 2024. Compared to July's 20,895 units, the Dzire declined 20.99% on a month-on-month basis.
The Hyundai Aura took second place with 5,336 units sold in August. Sales of the Aura grew 23.98% from the 4,302 units a year ago. It also posted a 15.10% rise from July 2025, when it accounted for 4,634 units sold.
Honda Amaze completed the podium spots with 1,753 units sold in August 2025. Sales of the Amaze saw a 32.19% decline compared to 2,585 units in August 2024. Sales also dropped 12.74% compared to July 2025, when Honda had moved 2,009 units of the sub-4-metre sedan.
The Volkswagen Virtus accounted for 1,674 units sold in August 2025. This marks a 10.77% fall from the 1,876 units sold in August 2024. Compared to July 2025, when 1,797 units were sold, Virtus sales declined by 6.84%.
The Skoda Slavia accounted for 1,008 units in August 2025. Sales of the Slavia were lower by 10.16% against the 1,122 units in August 2024. The midsize sedan also saw a 13.70% reduction compared to July 2025, when sales stood at 1,168 units.
The Tata Tigor, including its EV derivative, recorded 805 sales in August. This was a 29.88% fall from the 1,148 units sold a year earlier. Compared with July 2025 sales of 968 units, the Tigor's sales dropped 16.84% month-over-month.
Hyundai registered 771 units of the Verna in August 2025. The midsize Verna sedan saw a 35.43% reduction in sales from the 1,194 units in August 2024. Against July's tally of 826 units, the Verna sales dropped by 6.66%.
The Honda City accounted for 437sales in August 2025. Sales of the City contracted by 57.07% compared to the 1,018 units sold in August 2024. Month on month, the City's sales dropped by 32.35% against July 2025's figure of 646 units.
The Toyota Camry accounted for 158 units sold in August 2025. This was a 2.60% improvement over the 154 units sold in August 2024. However, when compared with July 2025, when Toyota sold 161 units of the Camry, sales fell by 1.86% month over month.
Maruti Ciaz reported zero sales in August 2025, compared with 707 units a year earlier. The sedan is now discontinued. Skoda Superb also showed zero units sold, against 3 units in August 2024 and 2 units in July 2025.
