Acura Prepares For TireRack.com Monterey SportsCar Championship With Strong Team Line-Up
Acura Motorsports and Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) have a storied history at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Since 1992, they have achieved 19 victories across various competitions, including Camel Lights, LMP1, LMP2, Prototype, GTD, and DPi. In 2022, Acura secured a notable 1-2 finish with the Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-05 leading the Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05.
This year, Acura will compete with two electrified ARX-06 GTP class prototypes. The #60 car will be driven by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun. Blomqvist was part of the team that finished second in 2022, while Braun won at Laguna Seca in 2012. The #93 car will feature Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande, who won at Laguna Seca in 2023.
The #93 GTP marks a significant step for HRC US as they take on strategy and engineering roles for the first time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Both Acura MSR teams have already shown strong performances this year. The #60 car finished second at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, while the #93 secured third place at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
The TireRack.com Monterey SportsCar Championship will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 12:00 PM PT / 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, May 11th. This two-hour and forty-minute sprint event will also be available internationally via IMSA’s YouTube channel. Radio Le Mans will provide live flag-to-flag coverage through IMSA.com.
