Tata Sierra Could Be Launched This Year! Available In Petrol, Diesel, & Electric Powertrain Options
Tata Motors appears to be gearing up for the launch of the all-new Sierra SUV, with speculations suggesting a market debut before the year end. The SUV has been spotted testing multiple times, and a near-production version was showcased to dealers earlier in July, indicating that the launch is imminent.
Design
The upcoming Tata Sierra stays true to the essence of the original model, featuring a boxy silhouette, wide B-pillars and the signature alpine window design. However, it has evolved into a modern 5-door SUV built on Tata's new monocoque platform.

The front design is inspired by Tata's latest design language, seen in the new Harrier and Nexon. It features sleek LED DRLs with a full-width LED light bar, SIERRA lettering on the grille, sporty alloy wheels, flush door handles and squared wheel arches with heavy cladding.
At the rear, the Sierra sports connected LED tail lamps, bold branding and a layered bumper. The SUV is expected to be offered in multiple eye-catching colours, including the striking deep yellow shade showcased earlier this year.
Interior & Features
Inside, the Tata Sierra is expected to deliver a premium cabin experience on par with segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta. One of the test mules revealed a triple-screen dashboard layout, a first for Tata Motors, similar to Mahindra's upcoming XUV 9e.
The Sierra will also get a 4-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo, ventilated and powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control and OTA updates. A high-quality sound system is also likely to be included in the top variants.
Safety & Technology
Built to meet the highest safety standards, the new Sierra is expected to secure a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP tests. It will come equipped with six airbags, ESP, hill hold and descent control, and a 360-degree camera. Level-2 ADAS features will also be offered, further enhancing driver assistance and safety.
Engine & Performance
The all-new Sierra will be offered with both petrol and diesel options. The petrol variant will use Tata's 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 170PS and 280Nm, available with manual and automatic gearboxes.
The diesel model will likely borrow the Harrier's 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that delivers 170PS and 350Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. That said, EV variants are expected to share its EV powertrain with the Harrier EV and offer AWD as an option.
DriveSpark Thinks
The Tata Sierra's return marks one of the most anticipated launches from Tata Motors in recent years. With its modern design, advanced features and multiple powertrain options, the new Sierra is positioned to make a strong impact in India's premium mid-size SUV segment.
