Tata Safari & Harrier Petrol SUV Crash Tested At Bharat NCAP: Check Results
The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs have now been introduced with powerful new petrol engines, and these petrol variants have achieved a 5-star rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. Their diesel models already have a 5-star safety rating, once again proving Tata Motors' strong commitment to safety without compromise.

The new Hyperion petrol powertrain was first showcased with the Sierra SUV, and for the first time, Tata's two flagship SUVs are now offered with these petrol engines. Both these cars have scored 30.08/32 points for adult occupant protection and 44.54/49 points for child occupant protection.

The petrol and diesel versions share similar variants and features, except for the powertrain. However, the petrol-powered models additionally have Fearless Ultra and Red Dark variants.
The Safari and Harrier SUVs come equipped with safety features such as up to seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, Traction Control System, 360-degree surround-view camera, TPMS, and several Level-2 ADAS safety features.

Both SUVs are front-wheel-drive models and are powered by a new 1.5L BS6 Hyperion Turbo Petrol engine that produces 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. They are offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
This engine setup was recently tested in the Tata Harrier, where it recorded a claimed maximum mileage of 25.9 km/l. The Tata Safari also achieved a top speed of 216 km/h under controlled testing conditions.

This achievement has been officially inducted into the India Book of Records, recognising it as the best mileage achieved by a petrol SUV with a manual transmission. Recently, the same engine in the Tata Sierra SUV delivered a mileage of 29.9 Km/l and set a new benchmark in the segment.
The Tata Harrier is a premium mid-size SUV that competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Hector 5-seater, Kia Seltos, and Jeep Compass. The Tata Safari is a seven-seater premium SUV that rivals the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and Jeep Meridian.
