Tata Motors Confirms 2026 Launch Plan Includes Avinya, Sierra EV & Punch EV
India's leading electric car manufacturer, Tata Motors, is planning to launch three new electric cars by 2026. These models include the upcoming Tata Sierra EV, Tata Punch EV, and the long-awaited Avinya EV. Out of these, the Sierra EV and Avinya EV will be new nameplates in the company's electric line-up.
Tata Motors Future EV Plans
In addition, Tata Motors has announced plans to introduce three more new EV nameplates by the end of 2030. The brand is also targeting to install more than 1 million charging points across India by 2030, including 100,000 public charging points to support their EV customers.
To improve accessibility, Tata Motors plans to expand its EV sales and service network into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, aiming to provide customers with better sales and after-sales experiences.
Currently, Tata has established 100 Tata.ev Mega Charging Hubs across India, each equipped with 120 kW fast-charging capability. These Mega Charging Hubs can accommodate between 4 and 16 charging points, allowing multiple Tata EVs to charge simultaneously.
Tata Group has also announced that it will invest ₹16,000-₹18,000 crore between 2025 and 2030 in new products, technologies, and build a large EV ecosystem. Tata also shared user data, stating more than 25% of Tata EV buyers are first-time car buyers, while around 84% of its EV customers use Tata EVs as their primary car.
Recently, the Tata Nexon EV became the first electric car in India to achieve 100,000 unit sales. Currently, Tata's EV line-up includes the Nexon EV (SUV), Tiago EV (hatchback), Tigor EV (compact sedan), Punch EV, Curvv EV, and Harrier EV (flagship SUV).
Tata has also showcased their Harrier EV's abilities, including demonstrations like climbing Elephant Rocks in Kerala and crossing the Baes River in Himachal Pradesh as part of Red Bull Stunt, highlighting the SUV's strong performance and extreme capability.
Tata Motors is currently testing the Sierra EV and Punch EV in India. These two models are expected to launch in early and mid-2026, while the Avinya EV is set to arrive by the end of 2026.
