Suzuki Backs Sam Thompson's 260-Mile Journey For UNICEF In Soccer Aid Match Ball Mission
Last week, Sam Thompson, a radio DJ and TV presenter, embarked on a 260-mile journey to raise funds for UNICEF through Soccer Aid's Match Ball Mission. Suzuki supported him throughout the five-day challenge. Sam travelled from Stamford Bridge, the host ground for the 2024 Soccer Aid match, to Old Trafford, this year's venue, using both foot and bicycle.
During his journey, Sam faced various weather conditions while stopping at football club grounds, including MK Dons, sponsored by Suzuki. His mission was to deliver the match ball for this year's game. On Friday, 6th June, Sam completed his challenge and raised over £1.5 million for UNICEF. Highlights of his journey will be featured in a special ITV1 programme on Friday, 13th June at 9pm.

Suzuki is the Principal Partner of Soccer Aid for UNICEF, which will take place on Sunday, 15th June. This event brings together celebrities and footballers for an England vs Soccer Aid World XI match. Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £106 million to support UNICEF's essential work worldwide.
Jodie Brooke, Senior Brand Communications Manager at Suzuki's Automotive Division, expressed their excitement about supporting Sam during his mission. "We are delighted to have played our part in supporting Sam and his team during his incredible mission," she said. "It was a huge challenge, and it’s a testament to Sam’s dedication and determination that he was able to safely deliver the match ball for Sunday’s game."
Suzuki is thrilled to be part of this year's Soccer Aid as the Principal Partner. They look forward to showcasing their brand-new e Vitara in Sam's Match Ball Mission programme on Friday, 13th June. As the programme sponsor, Suzuki's first battery electric vehicle will appear multiple times at the beginning and end of each advert break.
The collaboration between Suzuki and Soccer Aid highlights their commitment to supporting charitable causes while promoting their latest automotive innovations. The event promises an exciting blend of sportsmanship and philanthropy as it aims to make a positive impact on children's lives globally.
