2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness SUV Unveils Enhanced Capability And Trail-Ready Performance
Subaru of America, Inc. has unveiled the 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness, a robust SUV designed for off-road enthusiasts. This model boasts 9.3 inches of ground clearance, surpassing its predecessor, and combines rugged capability with a refined interior. It is set to hit retailers nationwide in autumn 2025.
The new Forester Wilderness is powered by a 2.5-litre SUBARU BOXER engine and features an upgraded suspension system. The vehicle includes all-terrain tyres and Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for enhanced performance on various terrains. The advanced X-MODE Dual Mode System further boosts its off-road capabilities.
With longer coil springs and shock absorbers, the Forester Wilderness offers improved stability and comfort both on- and off-road. The revised Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) provides better low-speed off-road performance. Additionally, the vehicle features larger Yokohama Geolandar tyres mounted on exclusive 17-inch wheels.
The SUV's towing capacity reaches up to 3,500 pounds due to an upgraded transmission cooler. Enhanced approach, departure, and breakover angles improve its off-road prowess compared to other sixth-generation Forester models.
Inside, the Forester Wilderness showcases water-resistant StarTex upholstery with animal-free seating surfaces. Anodized copper-finish accents add a unique touch to the interior design. A new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with exclusive graphics is available for the first time in this model.
The SUV comes equipped with Subaru's award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and an 11.6-inch Subaru Multimedia system. This system integrates navigation and Apple Maps, enhancing convenience for drivers.
Safety and Convenience Features
The Subaru Global Platform underpins the new Forester Wilderness, offering 10% stiffer torsional rigidity due to improved construction techniques. This results in better dynamic performance, a smoother ride, and a quieter cabin experience.
The vehicle provides ample cargo space with standard 60/40-split folding rear seats that expand to 69.1 cubic feet when folded down. With rear seats upright, it comfortably accommodates up to five passengers with generous legroom.
Subaru's Commitment to Quality
Subaru of America operates as a subsidiary of Japan's Subaru Corporation, distributing vehicles through about 640 U.S. retailers. All Subaru products are produced in zero-landfill plants like Subaru of Indiana Automotive, recognised as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
The company adheres to its "Subaru Love Promise," focusing on community support and environmental responsibility. Over two decades, Subaru has donated over $320 million to various causes while employees have contributed more than 100,000 volunteer hours.
Pricing details for the new Forester Wilderness will be announced closer to its market launch in fall 2025.
