2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Unveils Next-Generation Powertrain And Advanced Safety Features
Subaru of America, Inc. has unveiled the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, set to hit retailers in autumn 2025. This third-generation model features a next-gen series-parallel hybrid system and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for improved range and capability. The hybrid powertrain integrates a 2.5-litre SUBARU BOXER engine with electric motors, delivering 194 horsepower while maintaining Subaru's renowned off-road prowess.
The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid includes Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as standard. This updated version operates more efficiently across various conditions due to enhanced software and an electric brake booster. It can detect cyclists and pedestrians at intersections earlier, alerting drivers and applying brakes if needed to prevent collisions.
Additional safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Emergency Stop Assist is also included, which stops the vehicle if the driver is unresponsive, activates hazard lights, unlocks doors, and contacts emergency services via SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services.
The Crosstrek Hybrid offers a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with navigation and Apple Maps compatibility. It also features a tablet-style SUBARU STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The high-resolution touchscreen serves as a central information hub for audio, climate control, and vehicle functions.
Other infotainment options include Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, AM/FM stereo, SiriusXM All-Access Radio with a four-month free Platinum Plan, HD Radio, rear vision camera, and over-the-air updates.
Exterior Design
The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid introduces two new exclusive colours: Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl. These complement the unique 18-inch dark grey alloy wheels specific to this model. Detailed pricing and specifications will be announced closer to its release date in fall 2025.
Hybrid Powertrain Details
The next-gen hybrid powertrain combines a newly developed 2.5-litre Atkinson/Miller-cycle SUBARU BOXER engine with an electric motor generator for efficient power delivery. The system uses either the electric motor or engine alone or both together for confident on- or off-road driving.
A high-capacity lithium-ion battery rated at 1.1 kWh powers the electric components of the hybrid system. The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is mechanically linked to both front and rear wheels for reliable performance.
