Sub-4m SUV Sales July 2025: Brezza Leads As Fronx & Nexon Cross Swords
India's sub-compact under-4-metre SUV segment, recorded sales of 86,553 units in July 2025. Sales of Sub-4-metre SUVs in India dropped 11.55 per cent year-on-year (-11,297 units) compared to July 2024, but rose by 5.99 per cent month-on-month (+ 4,888 units), compared to June 2025.
Maruti Suzuki's Brezza kept its crown as the nation's best-selling sub-4-metre SUV with 14,065 units finding new homes last month. The Brezza commanded a 16.25 per cent share of the segment, though sales dipped by 611 units compared to July last year and were also down 442 units from June 2025.
The Maruti Fronx was July's biggest mover with 12,872 units being sold last month. The Fronx sales numbers rose by 17.82 per cent (1,947 units) year-on-year and by 31.15 per cent (3,057 units) month-on-month, allowing it to command 14.87 per cent of July sales of sub-4-metre SUVs in India last month.
Tata's Nexon (EV & ICE) lineup claimed the final podium spot, with 12,825 units sold last month. While that was 1,077 units fewer than last July (down by 7.75 per cent), sales grew by 10.54 per cent over June 2025 (1,223 units).
The Tata Punch lineup claimed fourth spot with 10,785 units sold in July 2025. Sales dropped 33.10 per cent year-on-year (-5,336 units), though it still managed a 3.25 per cent month-on-month improvement (339 units) compared to June 2025.
Hyundai's Venue, which will soon be given a mid-life refresh, claimed the 5th spot with 8,054 units sold last month. Sales of the Hyundai Venue saw a 8.89 per cent decline YoY (786 units), while sales increased by 17.44 per cent (1,196 units) MoM compared to June's numbers.
The Other Contributers
The Kia Sonet claimed 6th spot, with 7,627 units delivered last month. Sinet sales , dropping 19.37 per cent year-on-year. However, month-on-month, it improved by 14.55 per cent.. Its sibling, the Kia Syros sat in 12th spot, contributed 834 units to the sales charts in July..
Mahindra's XUV 3XO claimed the 7th spot with 7,238 units sold in July. XUV 3XO were down 27.62 per cent YoY, but rose marginally by 2.10 per cent MoM. Meanwhile, Hyundai's Exter took the 8th spot with 5,075 units sold. Exeter sales fell 15.94 per cent YoY and 13.59 per cent MoM.
The newly launched Skoda Kylaq entered the sales charts in 9th overall with 3,377 units sold in July, claiming 3.90 per cent of the segment. Toyota's Taisor accounted for 1,687 units last month, allowing it claim 10th spot. Taisor sales dropped by 36.10 per cent YoY and by 29.94 per cent MoM.
The Nissan Magnite was in 11th spot with 1,429 units sold. Magnite sales fell by 28.94 per cent YoY but increased by 8.83 per cent MoM compared to June 2024.
Maruti's Jimny continued its struggle in India with 362 units sold last month. Jimny sales dropped 85.10 per cent YoY and by 2.43 per cent MoM.
The final spot was claimed by the Renault Kiger, which will be updated this weekend. Renault sold 323 units of the Kiger last month, a 60.12 per cent YoY decline and a drop of 57.22 per cent in MoM metrics..
